I went to test drive the 04 TL yesterday. It is a lovely car. It will be in my top list when I am replacing my old 93 Maxima next year. (Wife agrees with it as well)
Here are some impression/though I have with this monster.
Pro:
1. Roomy.
2. 10 Way Power Driver Seat
3. Auto up-down for both driver and front passenger
4. One touch power moonroof.
5. Much softer leather seat in the back.
6. Dual A/C control for driver and passenger.
7. Standard AM/FM, 6 Discs CD Changer, XM radio with DTS DVD-rom surround sound system.
8. Very quiet inside the car, even when driving at 50~60mph.
9. FAST acceleration.
10. Handfree cellphone (via blueIftooth) standard on all model.
11. Adjustable headrest
12. blah blah blah.. the list could keep going....
:D
Cons:
1. Only 4 way power passenger side. (Don't know how I will get use to it after 2 years in my MDX with 8 way power)
2. Dealer now only sales it at MSRP. (Only processing fee waived for Costco Member)
Overall.......
I spent about half hour in the show room while waiting for the test drive. After looking the car inside-out and test drive it, I love it. But I am not crazy to buy it at MSRP plus all the fees again. (Wife loves the car, but dislike the MSRP deal)
Okay... Here comes photos.......... |

Nice pics JTM. How does the stereo sound?? Is it even a Bose? Did Acura go cheapo like the MDX or does it sound half way decent??
I received on invite yesterday for a test drive "event" at the local dealer. I'm afraid if I drive one I will have to buy one. I want to keep our 01 TL for a few more years first. Great looking car though.:29: |

phins2rt,
NO, it is not a BOSE system. I didn't test the sound system. I didn't want to blast my salesperson's ear.
It is better than the previous TL (not sure about TLs). If you test drive it, you might want to switch to it. :p If they were willing to give me a good deal, I might have it in my garage now since they have the color I want. |

JTM,
Thanks for the update. BTW, what color caught your eye? |
|
|
| JTM |
| Blue, Silver, and White. But I think I will go for Blue first, white second, then silver. I already have Silver MDX, so I will like different color for the sedan. |

| Thanks for all the information JTM. Much better info and pics then you can get in the auto magazines. :) |

Terrific pictures, thanks!
I agree with not paying MSRP. I don't think this will be like the last-gen TL which commanded MSRP for a while. The supply of this vehicle should be very good and the $30k-$40k sedan market is very crowded. If you don't need the vehicle right away, it's best to let the "new model fever" and the MSRP pricing pass. |

| Nice pics!!! That car rocks and if I had the $35000 grand, I would buy one tomorrow. I wonder how long MSRP will last? How was the ride quality - quiet, smooth, etc? |
|

| On the engine shot you can see the oil cap say 5w-20 so the 04 x will probably take it too. |

Sweeet looking TL.
Thanks for the pics JTM :29: |

If I am willing to pay the MSRP, I will get it right after I test drive it. It is really quiet on the road, even I was driving around 60mph without turn up the radio volume. And yes, it is really smooth while switching the gears. |

| When I read threads like this, I wonder if I am "old school" already. Exterior-wise, the car looks much too "round" for my tastes. I like sharper edges, not boxy, but sharper. The front of the TL is particularly "round" looking. Other than the exterior, I am sure the car is very good throughout. Acura better watch their plastics in this price-range, though. |

The DVD-A sound system is the BEST I've ever heard in a car. It uses 6 channel DVD's vs. 2 Channel CD's. The Acura demo DVD-A plays the same music using both systems. The CD sound was better than on my 03 MDX, but the DVD-A was beyond description.
There were no Navi's on the lot because they were a delayed introduction, with the first built 10/13.
My wife ordered a gray/saddle A5 navi; couldn't talk her into the M6.
The build date was yesterday, with delivery in 2-3 weeks. Naturally, MSRP, but no dealer fee or forced options. My dealer is also giving a free Bluetooth phone with every TL.
Hope this helps.

Great. Please post some photos with Navi and handfree cell phone feature once you have them. :D
I am not in hurry to get a new car, so I will wait until next year. By then, hopefully the price will be dropped.
PS> Still need to go test drive G35(c). |

| That's funny your dealer said there was a delayed introduction for navigation TL's, because there was at least one on the lot on the 12th at my Chicago area Acura dealer. Oh well, you're still getting your new car in less than a month! |

| I received an invitation to a TL showing/test drive at Bell Acura in Phoenix later this month. We just bought an '04 TSX two months ago, so I'm not thinking about buying the TL (we're keeping the MDX), I think I'll go just to see what all the talk is about. From what I've seen so far, the TL looks like a bigger version of the TSX but has a lot of similar features except for the engine, of course. I bet the nav data is at least two years old. |

Here are the information I know between TL and TSX.
1. 3.2L V6 270 HP Engine vs 2.4L 4 cyl. 200 HP Engine
2. 5.1 Channel DTS DVD-Rom audio system vs standard premium audio.r
3. Handfree Bluetooth cell phone in TL.
4. Larger wheel.
5. 19mpg/28mpg for TL vs 22mpg/31mpg for TSX.
And you are right, bigger interior for TL. |

| Just to reiterate what everybody else has already said....the '04 TL is AWESOME!! I've gotten to test drive a few these past few days at my job and it just blows the '03 out of the water. Especially the Bluetooth and XM radio. I got to deliver one the other night and it was so much fun. Definitely thinking about getting myself one....;) |

| I like everything about the '04 TL....except door handles and front bumper (although, that body kit does make a big difference). |

Convinced the wife the TL should be her next car, she didn't like the pics until seeing it in person. She WAS considering Lexus GS 300, BMW 530i and MB E320. Those are nice cars but more than I'm willing to spend right now unless we can get an used one, which she doesn't. So why get an used car when you can get the new TL, which looks good.
Took her to test drive the TL and she's hooked, she really enjoyed the power. I'm just waiting for the price to go down. The dealer is still wanting MSRP and you will have to order the NAV system. They had plenty of non-nav's on the lot in all available exterior colors. She wants a Black / Camel / NAV TL, taking care of an Blk MDX is enough so now I have my hands full. I told the dealer if he could come down about $1000.00 we can do business. I haven't started shopping around yet, since most of the dealers want MSRP since this car just came out.
She will be shocked to see this in the Garage on Christmas morning, if I can get the right deal.
If any dealers in VA, MD, DE or OH are reading this send me som e-mail if you want my business. |

Good luck. I know it is really hard to get discount on it. Pohanka Acura will only give FREE processing fee for now. |

I brought my MDX from Pohanka at MSRP, they still are not willing to give a deal to a previous customer and I get my MDX serviced there.
I may have to wait until next year to get the TL and get her another Christmas present.
