All,
I just got HIDs but felt they were aimed a bit high, since the reflector housing really "reflects" the light quite a bit. I couldn't find instructions on how to adjust it, but saw a few threads that were related. I figured it out and took some pictures, so hopefully it will benefit those of you that want to do it...
This pic shows where to make the adjustment. Once you open the hood, right above the headlight housing, there is a whole where there is a D and an U (down and up) with arros pointing how one should use a screwdriver to adjust the light. |

I then found that below the hole, where you are supposed to use a screwdriver to adjust the height of the headlight, is where the actual "gear" that drives the adjustment. On it there is a hex nut.

I then just took a hex bit (5/16") and used my "screwdriver that takes different bits" and adjusted the headlight. Turning the screwdriver counterclockwise lowers the headlight and clockwise raises the headlight.

I turned on the HIDs and marked the top of the main beam with electrical tape.

LOL!!!! I also used electrical tape to mark the previous height. It still is attached to the wall of my garage. I use them to line up my X when parking.

MDXtrous,
Once again, thanks for sharing this information. The pics are a real big help.:29: |

Update: I recently noticed the right headlight on my MDX was shining a bit high. I searched and found this thread once again about aiming headlights. I followed the instructions posted by MDXtrous. One complete turn counterclockwise on the hex nut with the 5/16 " socket driver, and both headlights were good to go.:29:

Glad I found this thread. They took the D and U off the hole in 2004 so I needed some additional instructions. Over here in Spain everyone is flashing their lights at me so I need to turn them down some. Mine are probably high, plus 95% of the cars over here are econoboxes so a SUV headlight is already shining right into their eyes.

Also got some very useful info from this thread while I was fixing the level of my left headlight a couple of weeks ago. BTW, in my '05 the directions to raise or lower is opposite to MDXtrous' instructions.

How do you adjust them on an 05?
