I was settling on Taffeta White for my new MDX until my wife and several of my friends commented about white being a feminine color. I started thinking about it and realized that 3 of my female neighbors drove white RXs (no MDXs in the neighborhood for now). My wife suggested I get a Nighthawk Black MDX instead.
Is white a feminine color? |

| Not at all. I would of went with the white if they had a black or dark interior option. |

MDtex,
100% masuline here, and I own a Taffeta White MDX. You will get the same response from the other masculine members that also own Taffeta White MDX's. That throws your wife's hypothesis out the window. Maybe you should've started a poll. Perhaps you have noticed more females driving white RX's because that vehicle is indeed considered to be a "feminine" car. |

Why do you ask? You already have the opinion of the people most important to you.
And you also already know how they will perceive you. ("How do I tell my husband he's a wuss?")
If you REALLY like white, you wouldn't care what other people think. If its a negotiable issue, you have the "costs" to weigh against the "benefits." Please tell me you don't have any young sons at home, susceptible to influence during their formative years?
Actually its not a big deal. People will get over it.
Just make sure you start working out and making a concerted effort at pleasing your spouse, intimately.
:p
And yes, as mentioned in previous posts, my wife has a white RX. |

What a "feminine' question to ask.
If some one told me TW is a "fem" color, I would respond with "Balls tae you!" |

I would never have thought about it but then my wife and neighbor stated it and a couple of my guy friends stated it. In my overall list I have Nighthawk Black and Taffeta White as my favorites. I have a black Acura and really like the looks but was thinking of something different for the new MDX.

Yes I do have a little 7 year old formative boy at home. His main interest is football and how the wheels look on dad's new truck. Color is irrelevant to him but he does want me to have nice wheels. Funny how that is important to little boys while my daughter couldn't care less. |

| I don't think so! Just had too many blacks cars over the years. I think whit just looks cleaner! Your wife got to get over that stareo type man! Black is beautiful but a ***** to keep clean...Of course no one here wold let their black MDX get dirty so choise is yours or your wifes!:2: :2: :2: |

| I read second post and had to comment again. My boys are exactly the same way! Little girls grow up to be the women who also for the most part could careless about cars! My wife wouldn't care is her car were a P.O.S. worth nothing, as long as it go her to and from points a-b. |

So long as you forego the pink pinstripe I don't think a white X is feminine. FWIW, IMO the RX is a feminine vehicle to begin with; not so the X.
If you're really worried, throw on a set of chrome sidesteps, fender flares, front lower trim, bull bar, whatever. Finish it off with a set of these for the rear and you'll be all set:

White in general is such a popular color for cars (up there with silver) that the odds of a few women in a small sample having white cars is probably pretty high.
For routine looks and upkeep, I'd prefer white rather than the black I have now, but the black X does look good at times with the dark windows and chrome accents. |

:19: ROFLMAO
Some other points on white:
1. Number 1 selling vehicle in agriculture: White pickup-have your wife and friends tell these good 'ol boys they are fem.
2. Many Police Departments across this great nation of ours drive White cruisers-have your wife and friends tell the Cops they are fem.
3. Many Tow trucks are White-have your wife and friends tell these tow truck drivers they are fem.
4. Even some Fire Departments have gone to White for their Engines-have your wife and friends tell these Firefighters they are fem.
5. The reason a lot of these folks have gone to White is for high visibility, that's not fem, that's smart.
Now, go out and be a man, get yourself an X, and get the color you want, whether it's white or some other cool color, as long as its not one of those "lipstick" colors Chrysler, GM, or Ford try to shove off on the American consumer.
There was a Poll on here about colors, might even have been in Acura's Style magazine. I believe Silver was the most popular, and White wasn't far behind.
Anyway, have fun with whatever you end up getting :D |

| Yes, white is a feminine color. But instead of listening to the folks on this site, go take a look around. When's the last time you saw a guy driving a white mustang or mercedes? |

I am surprised this thread lasted this long. Is there an intrinsic need to 'balance' the neighborhood based on what other people are driving?
Interestingly, Sunnyvale CA police just switched from white to all black cruisers, maybe they want to be less visible, or they have fewer women on the force now?

When I started this thread I didn't intend to question anyone's manhood. I was just trying to get an unscientific sample if a larger group had a similar view as my wife and some friends. I agree that certain vehicles seem to be a little more feminine than others but even that is fading since I see more women in Tahoes and pickups and men in minivans and family Malibus.
I still like white no matter what anyone says!

IMO white is an asexual color. My only problem would be sitting around with the guys and telling them I had a TAFETTA white MDX. Tafetta is definitely fem.
My 13 year old thinks the X is a wuss car. Calls it a van and always compares it to his idea of a man's car. But he is 13 and has those issues.
BTW the Nissan 350Z, a manly sportscar, is called the Fair Lady Z in Japan. That would about do it for sales in the USA. |

| My neighbor has a white MDX, I think it looks good. We just got finished with a white car. They are great to have in hot climates. Not really an issue for us, well, at least not most of the time. Get what you want. I don't think it is feminine at all. |

I had a yellow CRX for 9 1/2 years - very nice color and extremely easy to maintain.
I had a red Civic for 10 1/2 years. Thought the paint faded slightly over time, a good cleaner wax would bring it up nice and rarely looked dirty even when it was.
I had a black Explorer for 13 mos. The day after a wash it would spot up and looked dirty. Constant care to keep it looking clean.
At age 36 with a full time job and a young child, I no longer have the 8 hours on a Saturday I would think nothing about spending on my car like when I was 21. Now I want visibility and ease of care. I just went 6 weeks without a wash and 2 co-workers mentioned while walking up to my car that they can always spot it becuase it's always so clean and bright. I pointed out as we got closer the dirt and they were amazed. Alright, maybe no "David Copperfield" amazed but they were surprised at how well the dirt didn't show.
If I had the time to devote to it I would have gotten Midnight Blue or Black but for my family, white was the easy choice. FWIW, My wife played no part in the decision making process for color or options. |

| Considering that you live in Texas, white is actually quite a sensible choice. You'll appreciate it during the summers! I, myself, prefer white (or silver) simply because I hate seeing the scratches, dents and water marks on the clear coat on darker cars. White and sliver coats will stay nice and clean after many many washes. |

Hi MDteX:
___I purchased the X in TW for the wife since that is the color she wanted ... Is it Fem? I think HB (Havasu Blue) is a bit Fem but not Taffeta White. Just don’t tell your man friends the Taffeta part and I think they will be Ok with it. On a similar note, we drove the X to the top of Pike’s Peak this summer, clicked off some pic’s and posted them here. Many asked how come it looked so clean? It most certainly wasn’t the 9 to 10 miles of gravel road we drove (as close to a wet fire trail as you could imagine) but more then likely, the color itself. It just never looks dirty. Within reason that is ...
___For those with kids, make sure the next time they have any kind input on what type or color of car you purchase that they agree to reach into their own piggy bank to help with said purchase. That should just about take care of any comments coming from the Peanut gallery ... Just kidding of course ;)
___Good Luck

Does this mean that women who drive Black cars are masculine? I somehow doubt anyone would make that statement out loud.
I wouldn't worry about driving a white vehicle. If anyone says anything just explain that you're man enough to drive any color vehicle. |

I have a black Acura TL so I was looking for a little variety. I like the black but it does show every little scratch no matter how small. The primer is a light color so any scratch really shows up. That's a problem when you have little kids. So that's the reason black won't "cut it" for me this time.
Almost every limo is either black or white. Those are considering the best looking colors by many. (But why is a black and white TV not considered color?) One report I read stated black is luxury and white is sporty. Obviously that is the writers option but it does have some merit.
The white looks clean and crisp and won't show the scratches, swirls, etc that easily show up on black. As I've said before, I like all the colors I just wish Acura would let me pick my interior. I really want a white with ebony interior instead of saddle or quartz. |

2002 was the first year the MDX came in white, so I was a happy camper. My Taffeta White MDX came with the Saddle interior and while not my first choice for an interior color, I have come to like it. 2004 rolls around and now you can choose between Taffeta White or Aspen Pearl White exterior colors, and Saddle or Quartz interior colors. Sometimes, too many choices just adds to the confusion. No matter what you decide, the combinations will give you a great SUV.:29: |

EX,
Aspen White only gives you a Saddle interior "option." That was o.k. in my case since that's the interior I wanted. Taffeta gives you a choice of Saddle or Quartz. |
