2 days after I got my MDX, I went back to the dealership for a Detail job because the car was never clean...I got it the same day it got off the shipping truck... So, after it was detailed...I did a quick spot check and finger feel the paint.... noticed that it's got a outward dent (paint defect) on the rear of my MDX....
I need suggestions on how to deal with this issue......
I took it back to the service center, and they guy from the service center said he's very happy to repaint my car.... but at the same time, repainting the car would make it seem like it's beening into an accident.
At this time....I don't know what to do.....

Please advise......PLZ!!!
Thanks in advanced!!!

Tough to give you advice without seeing pictures. I probably would not want it repainted, could one of those dent repair places take care of it?

Unfortunately, repainting will be Acura's answer also if you pursue talking to an Acura representative. I have a few noticeable defects that I did push up to the Acura rep level because the dealer did not want to to do anything about them (actually tried the "they're all like this" tactic). They rep said that Acura has a huge budget for repainting and they will galdly repaint half my car if necessary. The fact that this would actually drive a customer away from purchasing another vehicle from them did not bother them at all.

On Saturday, 4 weeks after we bought our 03, wife and I noticed a paint defect on the tailgate left side, looked like dirt under the paint and there appeared to be slight distortion at the spot. Couldn't have been caught before we bought it since you had to look just right to see it. Took the car back to the dealer and the Service manager said it looked like a dent rather than a paint defect. It's obvious it happened at the factory because the imperfection is under the paint. Anyway, we are taking the car in today and it's supposed to be fixed under warranty, hopefully without having to repaint. The dealer has an independent guy who does work for them and he's a wizard. Looks like only a few of us have experienced these type issues, I'll wait and see what shakes out today before I comment further.

Hmm, I've been "on the fence" about getting a defect painted myself. A foot or better on the left edge of the hood looks like the paint was sanded or burned though and you can see the primer under the clear ... looks like a zillion little scratches. My fear I if I had the hood repainted, it would end up worse. Oh course, my newest problem is the formfit deflectors little adhesive pads .... how do I replace them? *sigh*

Suggestions?

Ok, repair is finished. Spouse took the X over this afternoon, waited about one hour and the imperfection was fixed. The dealer covered it under warranty. It looks pretty good, can't tell there was anything wrong before. No paint needed.

ayanomich,

Glad you were satisfied with the repair to your MDX. Can you describe what kind of work was done?

I asssume the dent was pulled just as if Dent Pro or some company like that had done it. We weren't told what was needed, the dealer agreed though that is was a defect caused at the factory which was painted over and not visible unless you really looked hard at certain angles. But once it was seen, you always were able to find it! I'm glad we went in when we did, maybe in another couple weeks or a month they might not have been as hospitable and I would have had to deal with Acura corporate then.
