Was driving my 93 Integra in the city and got hit by another driver who ran his stop sign yesterday (4 way stop signs). The boso was driving a rental car and his pal had a map in his hand! Anyway, the rental car smashed the passenger side where my wife was the passenger and mother-in-law was the rear passenger. Mother in law knocked her head against and broke the window. Thank god she check out at the ER, wife somehow came out without a scratch... even thou the front passenger side door is completely smashed in.... Looks like the beam between the two doors somehow took all the damage (thank God!)
Insurance will most likely total the car (only worth 5k bluebook) but i've keep it in perfect condition with 90k miles only. Guess the neck and shoulder pain will surface tomorrow morning. Good thing we got the X couple months ago, but will still have to figure out what to buy as a commute car... |

You've got the right attitude - Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt. Keep a check on you, your wife, & Mom-in-law, injuries can surface after several days.
Your wife was extremely lucky the beam helped protect her. I was in an accident last year - the person turned in front of me (I had a green light, she could go if clear), anyway I ended up t-boning her Mazda 626 with my 4 Runner, my children & I had some bruising, lots of soreness, I had a broken bone in my hand - but the point I want to stress is the passenger in the 626 had a cracked pelvis because that's where I hit her. I'm so thankful your wife didn't end up like that person. The Big Guy upstairs was watching over all of you! |

| no doubt kudo, count your blessings, glad you and your family are safe, shows you the kind of manufacturing that honda does even back in '93... it can only get better and better... i know i dont have a false sense of security in my mdx... again, glad you and your family are ok! |

Yes, the Big Guy was watching over us for sure, we couldn't't believe the damage done to the passenger doors.... I actually drag my wife to the ER for a check up (for the both of us) late last night. Doctor said the same thing about how the pain will surface in couple of days....
Anyway, I ran to the corner store and got a one time use camera and took some pictures while the tow truck was on it's way. Anyone here can give some advise on what to do next? I suppose the smart thing to do is to call our reg. doctor in the next couple of days and do another check up? Should I let my insurance deal with the claims or I should hire an attorney? |

kudo,
Glad you and your loved ones are alive. Since the other party was driving a rental car, I would recommend you let your insurance company deal with the claim. See your family doctor as soon as possible and start to document your medical treatment. Although your car damage is severe, at least there was no loss of life. Good luck.:4: |

| The insurance folks will send their adjuster to examine the Integra (I was told it's at the boarder side of being called "total" lost by them). Will call the family doctors tomorrow to arrange appointments, since I can tell body is starting to get sore and my back is getting pretty stiff as well. Gonna miss my Integra dearly, it's black in black leather (and just Zanioed! #*$(#*) with 90k miles only. Now we are wondering what we can buy as a 2nd car for local commute (X is extremely difficult to drive and park here in San Francisco) |

Dang Kudo...Glad everyone is fine. I recently got rear ended with my wife and then our 16 month baby.
Am still JACKED up from the accident. Year to Date...I STILL CANT put my motorcycle helment and ride my bike. I swear..Am really frustrated that the accident totally took away my passion.
I guess I have to resort to flyfishing now.. :)
Hopefully through physical therapy and chiropractice..my neck and back will be back to what it was.
Talk to you later. |

Sorry to hear that you are still dealing with the aftermath. The adjuster came and took some pictures and measurement of my Integra. I'm pretty sure that they will write it off as a total loss. :(
Wife and I as well as mother-in-law begin to feel some stiffness on our shoulders and back, I've been told that the pain might not surface until several week?!
In your case, you hired an attorney to good after the other party's insurance? Should I let my insurance deal with this?
Kinda suck to lose a well maintained commute car because some stupid driver who won't pull over and read the map! (i'm sure he was talking to his passenger asking for direction. His passenger came out of the car with a map in his hand) |
