| Anyone else notice that Acura is doing a lot more airtime advertising of the 04 MDX then they have done in the past. I have seen the new 04 ad probably about ten times in the past two weeks. Two times just last night during Monday Night Football. I was also suprised to see that they used a color other than silver which they have been using in all their ads. |

I did not see any 2004 MDX TV Commercials yet but I DID see on one late night a VERY BEAUTIFUL 2004 Acura TL commercial. It has a silver Acura TL driving on a windy road with cool special effects.
The vehicle is VERY beautiful. I also went up to San Francisco on a business trip and saw a REALLY BIG billboard ad for the 2004 TL.
Acura did a really nice job with the re-design of the TL. My wife and I are getting ready to purchase a sedan and we were originally look at a 2004 BMW 540iAS which is a triptonic automatic with M series sports suspension the vehicle is coming in around $50K+ with no GPS, no BlueTooth and no On-STAR.
I looked at the 2004 TL and it has GPS, BlueTooth and On-STAR for like $38K+
My wife really wants the 540i. I can go either way..but at this point since I have been owning Honda products since I was like 15...I feel comfortable with the product but more importantly save lots of money...Anyway...I dont have a big saying on our next vehicle...My wife does and I have a gut feeling she is gonna purchase the 540iAS. |

I am in the S.F. Bay Area and I have seen at least 3 times of '04 X TV ad. Couples in the late night news time and one in early morning.
They use black X this time for the '04 commercial with a male driver slowly driving across a smooth terrian. Existing owners can tell right away it is the '04 model by the wider steel logo bar in the front.
I visited my dealer yesterday and found out that they did not mark up the MSRP
for the '04 model to my surprise. It is the first time in 4 years that this dealership did not mark up on new X models. In the past, they added $2k to the MSRP of new X. |

They run the MDX commercial quite often here in MA. I haven't seen nearly the number of adds for the Pilot or Odyssey
My guess is that since Acura has increased MDX/Odyssey/Pilot production capacity this year in both their Canada and Alabama manufacturing plants, they would like more of that capacity to be higher profit margin MDX's. Thus the ramp up in MDX advertising. |

Some dealers will mark up anything they can. Others have not marked up the MDX since it was introduced. Just got to be choosy who your dealer is going to be. But at least now you will not have to travel too far from home to find one. |

I think so too.
Supply and demand theory is working here.
Quantity and competition drive the price down. :4: |

For those of us that have TiVo (I'm sure I'm not alone there :D ) Acura actually bought time on the machine ! If you go to the 'Showcase' section this week, you have a BMW and an Acura section, both with 4-5 clips including the ads, some review, etc..
Unfortunately, the Acura is for the TL, not the MDX. I'm going to a dealer event tomorrow where they showcase it; maybe I'll see an X-04 too :D |

| They also sponser the college football halftime shows on ESPN and ESPN2. Considering the amount of college football I watch I've seen the new MDX and TL ads so much I don't even notice them anymore. |

I was just by my local Honda dealer and they had 1K ADM on all 03 Civic's! Are you serious, not only did they have like 50 on the lot and low interest financing, but this mass produced car is easy to get close to invoice. I asked the sales moron about this and he said they add it to all cars so there is room to negotiate. :3: |
