I already had a stone chip in my windshield, but today, I really got a good crack in it. I was about to get out to pick up my son from preschool and it was pouring. I quickly grabbed my umbrella and accidentally hit the open button. The umbrella opened partially with the end striking the windshield and cracking it! The glass is smooth on the inside but you can feel it on the outside. Unbelievable how fragile the windshields are on these.

Rotten luck! You must have hit it just right--like a jeweler splitting a diamond.

Talk about a strong umbrella. Gail forced winds must be child's play.

they did say the 2001 had thinner windshields.
make sure it is replaced with a 2002+ windshield. |

Safelite it coming to the house to replace it. From what I read in other threads, they use a windshield that fits 01-03's and appears to be the thicker version.

Check your policy .......most insurance companys have "0" deductable when it comes to glass even though the rest of the policy has deductables.
