Not a big problem but I started to notice that the glove box light on my new 04 MDX is intermittently ON whenever my keys are in the ignition and also when I am driving. Am I alone, did anybody else notice this same behavior.
Here are some symptoms:
- It turns ON whenever I open the doors, along with the other lights
- When I start the car and shut the door, all other lights in the car slowly turn OFF by themselves except for the light in the glow box
- When I stop at the signal light it will sometimes turn OFF but comes right back as soon I start moving.
Is this a loose connection, it has only been a three days since I bought this vehicle.

| The demon glove light possesses my 03. The glove door does not sufficiently contact the light switch to make it turn off. My problem occurs when the headlights are on and I hit the gas. I fabricated a makeshift shim from a matchbook cover and the problem is fixed. I plan to have the addressed glamorously during my next dealer visit. I recall a discussion on the subject a few months back. I do not recall mention of a dealer fix. |

It's a pretty easy fix to do yourself, or the dealer can do it at your next visit.
The light switch at the top front of the glovebox already has a second hole drilled a bit further back, although the hole is a little smaller. You have to disconnect the black glove box supports on each side, then carefully lower the glove box lid onto boxes or pillow. (If it hangs down unsupported, you'll bend the hinges).
Then, using a flashlight and mirror, unscrew the right side screw in the switch at the top center. Pull it forward about 3/8 inch, and screw it back in with the rear-most hole.
Other than working upside down with a mirror, it's easy and faster than going to a dealer. |
