I had a strange noise that sounded like a rattle at times, almost like a pencil spinning in a slightly larger aluminum tube at times, sometimes like a couple dimes vibrating together. High pitched, sometimes for short durations, sometimes making noise for a couple minutes at a time at highway speeds.
It sounded like it came from the speedometer or somewhere close to that perhaps more to the left.
I finally think I found the culprit. A plastic like tag with a bar code that identified the whirring harness was apparently barely touching a nearby harness covered in ridged plastic loom. The slight friction apparently was causing the problem.
I ripped out the tag and the noise went away but since it might have been something else that was rubbing and just moving the wires around fixed it I shoved a big piece of carpet pad up in the hole above the emergency brake.
I hope this helps someone else in the future... |
