I pick up my new mdx yesterday.. I drove it that night durning rain.
I found that both headlights has fogs in it.
Does anyone have this problem?
What do you think I could do about it?
I don't want it fixed or replace.
It only has 15 miles on the odometer.
I want a different car.

| That sucks! I would have a big problem with it thats like taking it over night for a test drive. |

I don't think you are going to get another car given that it's the headlight. They are probably just going to replace both housing for you under warranty.
I don't see a problem for just taking new headlights. It sucks that you pay that much money and there is a defective part. If you are thinking of the lemon law, sorry but you don't qualify for that yet.
BTW, I recently got my 04 and no headlights problem. Just consider yourself unlucky that it happened to you but lucky in that the problem appeared so quickly that the dealer isn't going to give you much trouble in replacing it. |

The 04 projectors are a new design. Maybe there is a flaw.
What should you do? Take it back to the dealer and let them attempt to fix the problem before becoming unreasonable and demaning a new car. Its only a little moisture in the headlight. Not the end of the world. |

| I would bet the paper work isn't even sent off. I would want a new one, but I think they would say they couldn't do it. It don;t stop me from trying my hardest, heck replace um is the minimum they would have to do and only after acting like that is totakky not an option. Got to go in with a poker face for sure. |

| It happens sometimes....I had the same problem (with condensation in the headlights) in one of my other vehicles, but it was under warranty and was replaced without incident. |

Now that you mention it... I noticed some condensation in my new 04 that I picked up last week(pics to come soon :2: ). I didn't think anything of it at the time. I should take notice next time and get them replaced.

I had the problem in one headlight of my '02 after having it a couple of months. Brought it to the dealer and they replaced both, no questions asked. No problems 25,000 miles later.
I brought mine home and noticed a paint defect the next day. I know how you feel, if this one thing is wrong what else is wrong? I asked for another X==no way. I settled for some all weather mats and a comp. 7500 mile service. |

I understand being frustrated, but why would you want to wait for another X to be delivered when the repair, under warranty and free, is so simple????.:banghead:
I would, however, demand that they do it immediately (as in TOMORROW) and while you wait rather than the "Oh just leave it with us for a while" approach.
Also, if you live any appreciable distance from the dealership (>50 miles) I'd also tell them they should pay for your gas to and from your home.

| I think that you should give their service department a chance. The way that they handle a small item like this may indicate how they treat you for a big item. You might even be amazed on how well they treat you. |

Okay...
Take a deep breath and relax. The world is not ending. Condensation means the seal around the headlight is bad and therefor water is getting in. I would take it to the dealer and have them replace the headlight assemblies for you. In the meantime, you can run a bead of clear silicone around the assemly, which will put on a tighter seal. I hope this helps. |

I have had my MDX for almost three years now without any problems with fog in the headlights. I hope that the newly designed headlights are not already having problems???? |

I also took delivery of a 04 a couple of weeks ago with the same problem. But the headlights cleared up after 2 days and haven't fogged up since. I also saw a few others on the lot with the same problem so it is pretty common.
I'm thinking maybe they are using a power washer to clean their cars and the water is getting into the headlights.
I would wait a day or two and see if it clears up. Its been raining like crazy here for the last few day and my lights have been fine. |

Ditto, and my car has been left outside. I had a barrel out that I forgot to bring back in after the trash was taken away yesterday and it had 2 inches of water in the bottom this morning. My lights seem fine so far.

| Don't worry the dealer will replace it if it bothers you. It's been a problem since the 2001 on a hit and miss basis. Nobody had trouble getting the entire assembly replaced at the dealers. Sometimes it fogs and then goes away, but don't take it to seriously. The dealer will make you happy with a replacement. Enjoy your X to the fullest. |

Thanks for all the replys,
I have an appointment with the dealership to get it fixed.
Other than the fogs in the headlights, I am enjoing the X

| Legally the dealer is going to be entitled to repair the problem. Legally, the buyer is not entitled to a new vehicle under the circumstances described herein. When the driver side seat started to wrinkle in my MDX after only a couple of days, it ticked me off, but I knew from the get go that getting a new MDX was not even a possibility. |

I am encountering some other problems that might have been raised elsewhere --
First, the voice activation on the NAV system does not always work. I sometimes have to shut of the car and restart it in order to reboot the NAV to get it to work.
Second, the windshield is completely speckled with something which may be on or in the glass. It's only apparent when the light is directly ahead and at a low angle, and then it's visible. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about it. It's almost like a windshield looks after being hit by small pebbles for many years and having been sand blasted.
I'll be speaking with the dealer about both of these.

| I also had the problem with the voice activation on the navi. I have had the X for 1 week now and it has only happened once. When it did happen nothing else on the Navi worked. I just popped the disc out and put it back in and it had has not happened since. |

It's very hard to reach under the seat and do that while driving!

| Mine also have condensation in one of headlights. Is any way to ventilate it? I don't want to go to dealer. Thanks, |

pasha,
If you have a defective headlamp assembly, why would you not want it replaced? That is what warranties are all about.
somewhere between curious and flabbergasted ... |

spbep,
The condensation in headlight doesn't bother me, I just want to safe time and avoid visit to dealer. |

What did you do About the wrinkle problem. Mine is also doing this to both the drivers and passenger front seats. It seems cheap, but perhaps it's just a thing you have to live with. My TL is not doing this. |

Blev, it's 'wrinkling' because it's f*^&ing vinyl man. The only leather on this car is the perforated areas on the front and middle seat, and that's cheap leather at that. All other areas, and the entire 3rd seat are vinyl, or as BMW would call it, 'leatherette'.
I guess you figured the cheap 'wood' on the dash and shift knob is plastic too, right?? It's not even a good imitation. Geez. |

Anyone out there with condensation in headlight that is out of warranty getting dealer to replace the headlight?
Our '01 MDX has over 44k on it and I noticed the headlight this weekend had moisture in it after getting it washed by the kids. Had similar issue in my old '98 Lexus that the dealer took care of after warranty had run out but wasn't sure if Acura would do the same. Dealer is over 100 miles away so don't want to make a trip just to hear "no" without some evidence that others may have gotten positive results to their issue.
Thanks. |

Aren't you still under the 4yr/50k warranty? I just went out of warranty and had an idler pulley replaced at 51k because of dealer "goodwill".
The condensation in the headlights was a common problem (I had one replaced) and dealer should do unconditionally. In fact, at 44k, you'd better get both replaced because the new one will look MUCH different than the old one--even after only 20-25k--and most of the labor is taking off the bumper anyway. Some might say to leave well enough alone with the good one, but you might not be happy with an old pitted lens and a bright shiny new lens. |

| Had the same problem with my '04 right, rear tail-light. Dealer replaced the entire unit. (15 minutes.) Of course he scratched the bumper in 5 spots, while replacing the light assembly, but he did take care of the repaint! ALWAYS check your car, after it has been worked on.:2: |

| Try turning the headlights on for a half hour or so with the car sitting in the driveway...this will heat up the headlight shells and should drive out any residual moisture that is in there. Put them on high beam which is the highest wattage. If you are concerned about battery life, just leave the engine at idle although the battery should handle that time with the lights on with no problem. This problem is certainly not significant enough to demand a "new car"...if this is the only thing not quite right, you have a very good car. |

A hair dryer would probably work too. |

| My headlights were replaced because they collected water. Then they started collecting water again and I brought it back. The service manager gave me a hard time because he said the headlights were installed poorly the last time around. I explained to him it was the dealership 30 minutes North that did the last headlight swap. Then he told me he would order some new headlamps in and call me once they arrive. He never called me back and recently I've just got tired of dealing with the Acura service department. |

Hey bud--
I have an 04 MDX and suffered from the same moisture/condensation problem. It appears to be a common occurrence. When I called to tell my Acura dealer the situation she stopped me after I said "my headlights..." They knew exactly what was wrong and replaced the headlight assembly under warranty. Gave me a loaner car and a car wash. Easy fix. |

I bought my '04 in Nov 2003 and it seems that my left hand side headlight is showing condensation. Funny thing is that I put my car through several car washes throughtout the winter and then washed it at home at least once a week since spring time with a pressure washer and had no problems until it appeared about 3 weeks ago . :3:
I was hoping it would clear up with the use of the headlights but it is still there. I am taking the X in for it's 12000 K service and will have it addressed then. But it does seem to be a problem I guess with early '04s.:3: |
