| I just found out that the passenger seatback does not heat up only the buttom is heated  when I checked the owners manual it states that because of the sensors for the side airbag system there is no heater in the passenger's seat back. This is the biggest load of crap. Does'nt the driver side have side airbags  all other car makes don't have this dilema. and as it is the the heat is weak:3: |

| Dont know if it makes a difference, but the Passenger seat has a sensor for small objects to shut the bag off, while the driver's side does not. Maybe this has something to do with the design limitation. |

| It's the sensor, not the airbag that is the issue. They don't want the side airbag to go off if the person is sitting wrong, while they assume that you have a driver and they are an adult and sitting correctly so the driver's side airbag can go off. |

This is also my understanding.
You'll notice when you put a heavy object such as your brief case with laptop (or 80 lb. Golden Retriever) in the front passenger seat that the airbag off light will illuminate.
This extra equipment is not in the driver's seat. |

| I think its just a dumb excuse. For the price I think the four major seats should all have complete heated seats. |

I agree - heated seats all around!
But, if your heat is weak, take your car in - you can cook stuff on mine. |

| With a Rocky Mountain sheepskin between my tush and the 'heated seat' it's all academic. The car gets toasty enough with the climate system I don't really need them. |

I knew about that BEFORE I bought my '01 (in March '01) - it was not a big deal to me so we bought it anyway. Sounds as if you should have bought something else:rolleyes: |

But you're in California, land of sun and unlimited energy! Come here where we actually have weather, the heated seats are quite handy. :) |

I am not saying that don't have value in other climes. Just that the sheepskin is nicer to slide into on a cold (or hot) day than bare leather/vinyl. |

Don't have my MDX yet, but these comments on the heated seats are disappointing. Acura's reasoning is weak. And although I rarely sit on the passenger side, the seat backs should certainly be heated like other cars.
That said, I find the greatest benefit of heated seats are to relax my stiff back on long drives -- and the passenger should be able to utilize this, too. |

| Our Volvo had heated seats (bottoms only) and they sucked. They wouldnt heat up for like 5 mins. The mdx seats are great and they heat up so well. The bottoms are better than not having them at all. |

Get over it.
As stated, something is better than nothing. Get a hot water bottle if you need to have your back heated. |

Agreeing with JSwift, my X seat heaters work fine, and the high setting is usually too toasty. :9:
I'll vouch for Dale's need for heated seats: The Central Valley really can be damp and chilly in the winter--sometimes it gets down to 30 degF! |

Very true, but a 45 minute drive further east into the mountains, and will be in the 20's. It's already in the 30's in Sierra foothills, and is to drop a good 10 deg this weekend.
Damn seats will not do a damn thing for the fog though! |
