I'm getting a black MDX and was curious to different opinions on which side step matches better with the Nighthawk Black exterior. The satin or the chrome. Pictures would be cool too.

funny you mentioned this, cuz i was faced with the same dilemma last week. my 04 is still sitting at the dealership, with the bright chrome side steps already installed. i had originally planned to have the satin chrome sidesteps match the soon-to-be installed satin chrome mirror covers. but, after polling some of the car nutz at the dealership, i changed my mind and had them stay with the bright chrome sidesteps and change the mirror covers to bright chrome as well. the car nutz reminded me that it will be a bit more difficult when trying to clean the satin chrome sidesteps, especially when scratched. the bright chrome should HOPEFULLY be easier to maintain. no pictures as of yet, since i have not taken delivery of the vehicle. but rest assured, i will post when i bring her home on friday.

I was all for the chrome too. I thought they would look better especially with the chrome door handles.

I also purchased the rear painted spoiler. Did you? Although it cost me $749 installed, I heard this was one item that involved drilling holes so I didn't want to attempt this. I've a seen price on the Acura web site in the $300s is this the same spoiler? If so 400 in labor is crazy! Oh well I was just curious.

take a look at this thread: http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...?threadid=14178
if you really take a look at the X, only the front grill and back trim are made of the satin chrome finish. the door handles are bright chrome. hopefully chosing the bright chrome will be a more pleasing appearance (not to mention easier to maintain).

i used www.hondacuraworld as the competition when negotiating the price for accessories. the sales manager essentially gave me them items at his cost, plus discounted installation.

Same spoiler as Tim has! The holes are a bit scary to drill, but not 400 bucks worth. takes about 3-45 minutes. not 400 bucks of labor thats for sure! Congrats on your new X

Thanks for that information. I wonder if I can squeeze anything out of them since it on the Acura web site it shows $379.00 MSRP for the spoiler and $749 is my cost... a $370 difference in labor. I pick up the car 12/18 so I may have time to complain :-)

Definitely! there's a plethora of choices for you to make good on their deal. just figure out what other options you'd like, then present it to them. worst case scenario, you get 2 or 3 other accessories installed (at no charge of course).

best of luck. you have a great deal of ammo to fight them!

Stick with the chrome - I have seen the satin on a black mdx and it just did not look right because of the chrome door handles.
