Hey all -- first and foremost... I love this site and forums. It did influence our purchase of a 2004 Acura MDX...

Here's the question for you lucky 2004 owners and heck even other MDX owners...

Got a brand new 2004 MDX Nav/RES and the passenger side front seat seems to wobble a little. If sitting in the driver seat and push back and forth on the the passenger seat, you can see the right forward portion of the seat lift up more than the left side and moves appreciably. After bringing it in for BSM and one other item, I asked the dealership to look at it however they reported this is normal. Of course I am alwasy weary of a response like this so... Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

Vinny,

Just went out and checked my '02. Doesn't seem to have any wobble or play in it. I agree with you on the "this is normal" response. That response is about as good as "they all do that."

Maybe we should start posting dealer responses to our questions in the Joke-of-the-Day thread.

Ask the service manager to demonstrate this "normal" behavior for you on three other new MDX's on the lot. Try for a random selection. If indeed it is normal then they should all do it. If none do and they still give you a hard time, then have them schedule an appointment with the area Acura rep to explain to you why you should accept it.

My 03 does the same. I brought it up to the service rep. to only get "this is normal". Normal my A$$, I'm going to bring it up again for the 7500 service and try your approach.

Just like the vibration in the steering wheel between speeds of 70-75 "were normal"........I refused to accept the car this way and oddly enough, one the "third" attempt, they got it right.......

My car also was missing the "TLC" stickers .....so I mentioned it to the Service Mgr. He just srugged me off, low and behold two months later, two little stickers arrived in an envelope from the Ser. Mgr.......You just never know these days who's listening.......

Point is, deal with the Service Mgr if can, avoid those rookie service rep's......be persistant or find another dealership.....Management doesn't care to hear that. AND don't forget those surveys !

Mine also wobbles a bit. They also told me it's normal. I've decided to wait and see if it gets worse.

No wobble in my '04 passenger seat

Our 04 is pretty much flawless. I've read a lot of complaints on the sloshing gas in the tank. Apparently that was fixed, as stated from the Service Tech I spoke with, prior to the purchase.

As I've stated before, this is an extremely quiet ride! No complaints from us..........

As a sideline, we stopped in at Home Depot and parked next to a same colored (SS) 03 (Touring). We walked out and noticed that the MDX's lights were flashing. It turned out that the owner's were right behind us. We talked for about 15-minutes. They told us that they were trading their's in for the 04, as the curtain bags and acoustical upgrades were very much welcomed. I'm glad I waited the extra time for the 04.

Who know's.............maybe I'll be turning mine in for an 05 too. Hope not. This could get very expensive:2:

I have a 2001 model, but in any case...

My driver's side seat had a bit of wobble, and once in a while, during sharp turns, the seat actually shifted slightly from side to side. I took it in to my dealer, they said it was pretty normal, but once compared to the passenger side, it was clear that the driver's seat had more play in it. They ended up replacing the seat tracks under warrenty, and it solved the problem. That was more than 2 years ago, but anyway, you should compare with the other MDX's at your dealership. Good luck.
