I'd like to throw this question out to all in this forum:
Which SUV would you buy if the MDX was not an option, and why? Just for grins, let's keep it in the same price range and size/towing capacity. |

| Well, if the MDX wasn't an option (because it never had been built), then the Pilot wouldn't be an option because it wouldn't have been built either. We probably would have considered the Odyssey or the Toyota Highlander. |

Since I bought the MDX for the third row seat and cargo/interior space, that would eliminate most of the regular competitors. There really isn't a lot of choice in that middle area of size between the small to mid-sized and the really large ones like the tahoe/expedition.
The only other one that compares well in the areas I thought were important is the volvo XC90. The pilot would be a 2nd choice. |

| Pauls MDX |
| Lexus, Mercedes, or the BMW. |

| I would have to say the BMW X5 |

| If you consider price range and dependability, the field narrows even further! |

| Thank God for the MDX...otherwise I hate to think I would be driving around in a Chevrolet Trailblazer.:16: |

| fx35 (but I'd have to buy a set of snow tires for it), or maybe the volvo |

| FX45 .. it was 1 of my 2 choices when shopping a few months back. After driving both, basically decided it wasn't worth the extra $$ ... although I liked the engine. :D |

| With current models, it'd be between an RX330 and an XC90. |

Hi All:
___A Crystal White w/ Light Gray/Walnut interior equipped Lexus 2WD RX330 w/ the Premium Plus Package or the next gen RX Hybrid. An Escape Hybrid wouldn’t be that far from my sights either if they were available.
___I almost forgot; the mandatory side curtains F&R included into the mix as well …
___Good Luck

If like me seating for 7 was a requirement it narrows the choices down even further. I'd probably consider a top of the line Highlander now that it has a 3rd row option. |

Staying in the same price range it would be a RX-330. Maybe a Highlander.
My real choice in the first place is/was an LX470. It's a super truck. Haven't had time to check out the Toureg and the new Porsche yet. They could be on the short list, also. |

| At the time we bought our MDX, and assuming it was not available, we would have got the Odyssey (we need three rows of seats). |

Yeah, that is a requirement - seating 7. BTW, the '04 4Runner now has an optional third row. The RX330 only seats 5, but is really nice. As far as I know, the X5 and the ML only seat 5, too. |
|

| The ML is available with a third row, the X5 definitely not. The ML's third row is like the 4runner's/GX470 -- the third row seats are individually removable and can be folded to the side of the cargo compartment. They do subtract from normal cargo space when they're in the vehicle |

| One of the things that sold us on the X was the 48" wide flat floor; my two 24" Zero Halliburton cases just snick into that space side-by-side when I'm going out on a recording gig, and my other cases and bags fit fine also, just behind them. We use the 3rd row seats when the two grandkids are here, but not otherwise. |

| We have to have the cargo space for our son's upright bass case. That thing seems to be almost the size of a coffin - it's a hard-side case. We have to lay down the passenger seat behind the driver, and angle it diagonally so it will fit! The RX330 wouldn't hold it. |

| Toyota Sequoia or X5.:1: |

| Another thing about the RX330 and the Highlander, the towing capacity is only 3,500 lbs. The 4-Runner can tow 5,000 lbs. w/V-6, and 7,300 lbs. w/V-8. |

X5. No doubt. You asked. |

| ... we would prabably have kept our Expedition for a while longer (or maybe trade for a Sequoia). Seating for 7 was required. |

What a great question. Keeping in mind I bought my 03 over a year ago....
X5 is out, XC90 is too hard to get, and thanks but no thanks General, and the Ford - can't do that. I liked the RX300, but I need 3 rows of seats. The Highlander is also a good choice, but to tow my 3500lb boat? Out with the rest as well.
I would have probably bought a used pick-up for towing and hauling and bought me a Lexus LS sedan. Nice sedan as a daily driver and keep the vette convertible for something fun.
Buying today, the RX330, the Toureg, and the FX look mightly tempting. |

| My short list included the Sequoia and Pilot. Or I would have waited (gulp) until the new Sienna was out. Thank god the MDX exists!!!!:D |
