Well Ive been mulling whether to post it or not. I guess I am. In the summer I was having bad heart burn I mean really bad. My father who is a Dr did some blood work and it turned out I had H pylori. Its a bacteria that lives in your stomach and loves acid. Well I took the meds 4 pills 2 times a day for 14 days, combo of antacid and two antibiotics ugh. Well it went well then I had this pressure like feeling in my chest or throat area. it didn't go away my dad referred me to a GI and the Dr said most likely I has esophagitis from the acid, but wanted to do a endo to make sure everything was okay since he wanted to take a proactive approach and eliminate any possibility of more serious problems. Well the endo was done and he took a biopsy and the bug was gone but he discovered I had a lazy stomach which he prob attributed to the increased acid and also a hiatal hernia. I never knew this. I had to take reglan for 7 days which helps stimulate the stomach to move the food. It worked well and I was fine for 2 months but appox 2 months ago I drank coffee a bit too hot I guess and it irritated my esophagous, then it started all over again. Pressure like feeling etc. My Dad rx some protonix and reglan. Protonix to help with acid so my esophagous can heal and reglan to help the GI movement. It had been getting better. But I have the hiatal hernia which bugs me. It feels like food gets stuck there and if I bend I regurgitate the food. A week ago I threw up and today I regurgitated a small bit prob two table spoons. I hate taking the reglan because I have to plan to take it 30 mins before eating, not fun when you are out. I am currently losing weight in the hopes of easing the pressure on the hernia. When this all happened I was 224, now I am 216. I am shooting for 190 maybe in 6 months at my current workout regiment I will reach it.
Who else has this problem and what have you done. I know there are forums dedicated to GI problems and I have posted there but you guys are a good bunch, I though I would share this and hopefully learn from you.
Thanks |

| Hate to hear what you're going thru, man. Sounds horrible! Get that hernia repaired and you'll feel much better, and hopefully your GI tract will get back on course, too. Take care of yourself, and let us know how you're doing.:) |

| Well I want to avoid surgery, since basically you will need to watch whatever you do from lifting to going to the washroom. You basically will need to tip toe around. Its a pain in the ass to say the least. Im just hoping with the weight loss it will help alot. By the way this is what is looks like and what it would look likie after surgery.. |

Good Luck
All surgery is serious, at least you have your fathers professional input. |

| I spoke to my GI Dr and he put me at ease. Told me to RELAX, being anxious and tense agrivates my esophagous. Also surgery for me prob wont ever be needed. Since I am losing weight. But I still need to lose bout 20 lbs. Anything to avoid surgery I say. Thank all for lending a ear, or eye. |
