Brake Shudder at ~70 mph - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just had my 30k service done and also had the tires rotated. My first long trip was over t-day and while on the hi-way I occasionally needed to brake for slowing traffic at ~70mph. I noticed that my brakes created a distinct shudder similar to an out of alignment shimmy. Anyone else have this problem?

I will call dealer tomorrow to complain and ask them to fix although I have sure they will tell me it's nothing they did, is normal, does not exist, ...

Have them re-balance the tires and check the rotors to make sure they're not warped. If it only happens while braking, I would tend to think it's the rotors especially if the ride is smooth at 70mph prior to braking. Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Had the same thing. Did my first rebalance at 15,000 mi. plus Acura resurfaced the front rotors and replaced the front pads under warranty.
Combination brought back original silky ride and smooth braking 'at any speed'.

Took the car to the dealer today. They claimed it was rotor pads that were warping. Normal occurrence claimed by Acura and not covered under warranty. Offered to plane them for ~$125. Since I was in need of a car and they would not give me a loaner based on the fact that it was not a warranty issue, I declined until I have my car serviced next.

Seems 30k miles and warped rotors is not 'normal' to me but what do I know.

BTW they would cover it if it was a current model IE 2003 with less than 20k mileage.
