i cant believe how helpful this site is...saved me so much money on DIY maintenance. DIY gives me piece of mind that everything is getting done correctly. it's ridiculously easy...recommend it for everyone! thanks to the SR. members of this site.

anyway....

i have approx 54500 miles on my 2001 and am still running the original pads. i have not noticed any decline in braking performance...but i figure i have to be close to the end here soon.

of course, i want to avoid waiting until i do damage to the rotors!

do acura's OEM brake pads have wear indicators (other than actually checking the pad itself out)?

I haven't inspected my pads firsthand, but the service manual says that the "inner" pad has a wear indicator -- the drawing is small, but it looks like it might be a "chirper" like most cars have now. The specified service limit (minimum pad thickness) is 1.6mm or .06" (about 1/16").

You must have a lot of highway miles. My '01 just barely passed the last State inspection with 25% at 37K and I will be installing new in the next 5000 miles. Incidentally, I'm happy with those numbers.

yes, logged mostly highway mileage.

at 45K, my pads checked in at 55%!

thanks for your posts everyone

... at 44,900 miles. They could have gone a few thousand more, but it was convenient to do it today.
