I have experienced a strange problem. It first started when I accelerated fairly hard (up to about 4500 RPM) and the VTM-4 light came on along with the check engine light?

I pulled over and turned off the engine, then tried to restart. When the key was switched back on, the VTM-4 light was not on but the check engine light persisted. I read the manual and it suggested possibly a problem with a loose fuel cap and to check the cap and cycle the ingnition on and off 3 times and it would possibly correct the problem.

Sure enough, about 15 seconds after the third time I cycled the ignition, the check engine light went off. a few days later, during a stiff acceleration, the whole thing started again! The Acura dealer has had the vehicle for a week and tried replacing some solenoids, but it hasn't corrected the problem.

Any ideas? Anyone else had such an occurrance?

This is similar to the symptoms I experienced when the egr valve needed to be replaced.

What he said -- EGR valve. It should show in the computer codes which turned the lights on. Could also be the idle air control valve (according to the dealer who replaced my EGR valve -- after which, no more problems).
