Hi,

I just leased a new 04 MDX with NAVI, and asked the Dealer to install an aftermarket RES (they didn't have NAVI/RES in stock in any color that I wanted). The system that I got installed today is Audiovox PROV710. The very first thing that I noticed is a light background monotonic noise that comes through the car stereo or the headsets when a system is on. It's not loud, but it's always there whether a movie is playing or not. Has anybody else noticed the same, or my system is bad?

Thanks,
Albert

COuld be a grounding issue or they prob use a FM modulator to feed the sound into the head unit, which could be letting in electrical noise.

Thanks for your reply.
I have to set my radio to the FM station to use my car speakers, but that doesn't explain why I get the same noise through the headsets. If I understood you correctly, I shouldn't hear any static noise from this sytem either way?

Thanks.

Hmmmm if its come through both speakers and headphones sounds like it could then be a grounding issue.

Hey Albert,
I noticed you were from Phoenix. I live in Gilbert, looking to pick up my MDX in about a month when my Tahoe lease is up. If you don't mind me asking, where did you look and end up buying and what kind of deal did you get... Thanks

Gary,

I contacted all 4 dealerships in Arizona, and let them bid. Tempe and North Scottsdale came close, but I got it from the Scottsdale. I got more than $2,500 off the MSRP for a Touring with NAVI.
Unless your color of choice is Sandstone Metallic, I would suggest you start talking to the dealers now. On the other hand you best deal is always on a car in stock. That's why even though I wanted NAVI/RES, I bought one just with NAVI and let them install aftermarket RES, because they didn't have neither of 3 color combinations that I wanted in stock. You can send me your e-mail address or a phone number if you need more details.

I've contacted the Audiovox, and went back to the installer, they both told that a light background static noise is normal when the system is on and doesn't play anything. I can't really hear any noise when it plays a movie.
