My favorite Christmas gift was a new 2004 MDX Shift knob. Of course, I did open it before Christmas.:29:
Merry Christmas 2003!

My new toy-
The HP iPAQ 5555. Has xSCALE 400MHz processor. with mobile windows 2003. The FASTEST pocket PC out there. I got it with the 512MB RAM upgrade. This baby has embedded BlueTooth technology.
I watched Lords of the Rings Twin Towers via wireless yesterday on my HP 5555. It also has Biometric fingerprint log on access identification...So if some steals this thing in hopes of accessing my data in there..FUGGED-DA-BOWD-DED.... |

Fireblade, that is cool!
Can you give Powerpoint presentatiions with that device? I'm looking to replace my old Palm Pilot Vx, can't decide on a Laptop or a handheld that does Powerpoint, connects to a projector and displayes the presentation. I looked at the Dell Axim, but still not sure.
Thanks |

i have all my music (300+) CDs recorded into my home PC. it's what we use as our stereo system (using MusicMatch)
old computer speakers were ok, but received the Bose Companion 3's for Christmas.
Incredible sound, an amazing difference!...and the little pod for volume and mute feels like the smoothest, best engineered 'doo-hickey' ever

| Is it me or the manual craptasticular. Only last night I realized that the portion after dubbing you need to finalize it yourself. I thought it was automatic. |

| Mine was a surprise out of the blue -- my wife gave me an Olympus C-5000Zoom digital camera, 5 megapixels. Guess I'll have to join the crowd and post a pic now and then (I'll probably wait 'til the car is real muddy:2: ) |

No, it's not automatic. The reason is that the disc can still be written to (recorded) until you finalize it. Once it's finalized, it becomes payback only. The recorder leaves it open (i.e., unfinalized) until you specifically ask it finalize it. |

Greatscot-
I'm still messing with it. The weird thing is..the Pocket PC doesn't come with a hard copy of the instruction manual, I had to look for it on-line at www.hp.com. As soon as I get accumulated with this thing...I will let you know. |

It's not what I received but what I gave that was special this year.
For Mrs. BlueStreak - One pair of tickets to see Shania Twain in Raleigh. 10th row on the floor and it's going to be a kick-azz time!! |

Got 2 great gifts a Roady XM radio and a Dell Axim 3i.
Greatscot, I'll try and load a powerpoint presentation on it. Can't think of a reason it shouldn't work, other than size. Powerpoint shows can get pretty large. You may already know but you can save ppt files as screen shows and eliminate the need to install Powerpoint on the PDA. |

Thanks alwx2, for your input. I appreciate your info. I've got it narrowed down now to a new Palm and the Axim 3i. Will be checking the website tonight. Thanks! |

Are you still happy with it? How has it been working out? Do you need to subscribe to any TiVo-like service for the Auto Renewal Recording function? Thanx! |

I like it alot I've need to make sure the firewire works with my Sony camcorder. I need to do it before 30 days are up. It has vcr plus so no tivo, but you need to set it up, I was kinda upset I would think for 1k item it would have vcr plus gold that does it automatically. The other thing I dont like is when you do renewed recording. i've read it will record over the last program that was recorded, unless it has been protected which you can do. You can't view the program at the same time,if the recording for that renewal is supposed to take place, it will take place as a separate program, makes sense. Another thing was it has some sort of New CRPM (content protection for recordable media ) that shows are supposed to be embedded with meaning "is used to protect broadcast that are allowed to be recorder only once e.g (some cable CATV broadcasts )".
I haven't run into any of it yet, but am disappointed in this tech. I've been asked already by a handful of people to x-fer some vhs to dvd. Even those who have video editing SW on their computers. It's quick and dirty and simple. More involved editing is saved for the computer. But for the those shortcomings I like it alot especially since I never though my wife would get it. I recorded the twilight show marathon on Sci-fi during new years and just finally I finished watching it. I think it was 40 hrs. whew. I still like it but NEED to make sure firewire works with my camcorder. |
