Every other Christmas my wife and I take a cruise, and this year we went to Centeral America and traversed the Panama Canal. Just wanted to share a few photos of this incredible trip through the canal.
This photos shows the entrance of the canal on the Atlantic side at the Gutan Lcoks. Our cruise ship, the "Coral Princess" (princess crusie lines), pays the highest toll ever levied to a ship at $245,600 per transit. |

| This picture was taken from our balcony and shows a freighter that is aproaching the lock next to us at Gutan. Therer are two lock chambers at every set of locks. |

| This shows that same container ship locking up at the Gatun locks. In this phot we have already risen in our lock. It also shows the height differnece that you rise in the lock. This lock we went up 35'. |

| This phot was taken from a smaller ship we boarded to continue to the Pcific side through the remainder of the locks. It shows another small ship behind us that locked through with us. Note the water level height in this photo bfore we locked down. |

| Great pictures! Just tried to explain to my kids at school how the Panama Canal works and I don't think they really understand how a "lock" works. I plan to share these pictures with them after the Xmas break - they are truly worth a 1000 words! |

Yeah, after hearing what the toll was don't you want to thank Carter for giving the canal to Panama!!!

Great pics. I went through these locks when I was at Jungle Training at Ft. Sherman in the Canal Zone. I assume the humidity was pretty low when you were there? |
