First I want to THANK Everyone who answered me about my TRANSMISSION. I guess I will have to live with it and hope that they will fix it right. If you have anymore info on it please let me know.
Now as I said my RACK & PINION was replaced at 12,500 miles and I now have 13,700 miles. When I put the car in drive and turn the WHEEL a little bit standing still I now hear a knock when turning the wheel, it seems to be coming from under the car near the tire.I did not have it before. Can you guess what it is. I get the knock when I turn it to the right and left. When I drive the car there is no knock when turning.
My email address is
TOEMAILMARK@WEBTV.NET if you want to answer me direct.
THANKS TO YOU ALL

Well, you should not be turning the wheel very far if the vehicle is not actually moving. It puts tremendous load on the steering system.
If the sound is when the car is still but you only turn the wheel slightly right or left, I imagine it is some play in the system. This is measurable and a mechanic should make the determination if this much free-play is a problem. The mechanic could determine if the play is in the steering linkage, rack assembly, or steering column coupling. |

| It’s possible that your new rack lacked tie-rod ends, so the old ones had to be recycled. A mechanic can easily diagnose the problem with the X elevated. If this turns out to be the case, be sure to replace both ends. |
