Just purchased these and was wondering if anyone has experience with these speakers?
Thanks, |

As you can see the mounting depth of these two last pics, exceed the allowed depth of the MDX 2004. I took the OEM speaker out and the mounting depth is 2.25" from the speaker mounting surface to the back of the speaker enclosure. I will try to use a heat gun to deform the plastic enclosure so that the mounting depth can accomodate the MMC650. These speaker have a min. depth of 2 7/16" without the magnet cover (last pic), or 9/16" with magnet cover.
I'll keep all of you posted. |

| The Polk's sounded much more clear with a better bottom end. But this was at the store which was loud and not the ideal listening environment. |

Just a word of caution, the window glass clearance is VERY tight at the back of the rain guards in the front doors. The rears are not as bad, since the glass doesn't go down all the way like the front does. Be real careful how much you deform the cover. Also, the glass can easily hit the wiring adapter plugs if you don't keep them snug to the inside of the door panel.
I've used a pair of Polk speakers in my home stereo for over twenty years. I have yet to listen to a more natural sounding speaker. I hope you enjoy yours in the X as much as we've enjoyed ours in the house.
For an inexpensive pair of speakers, we've been impressed with our Infinitys (ies?) :8: Your impression of a weaker bottom end is correct, but it is a HUGE improvement in sound quality over the stock BOSE stuff. They fit, too. |

That was my concern also. I replaced Infinitys up front with BA FX-6s and the magnet would hit the rain guard. I ended up cutting out most of the rain guard. I even made a homebrew gasket of about 3/16" out of Dynamat I put under the rim on the exterior of the panel to move the speaker even further up. By deforming the shield I think you would be pushing more plastic possibly into the path of the window glass. Those look like hunky speakers. Interesting, the merger of Momo and Polk. I am sure you will pleased overall with the improvement over stock.
I notice the sensitivity is down about 2 db from the Inifinitys most have installed....I never have to crank the stock amp very much to play loud so you should be okay there. |

| I actually measured the distance from the mounting face (where the speaker interfaces with the door panel) to the glass (as it was rolled down all the way) and it measured 3" exactly. So as long as your speaker is under say 2 7/8", it should be fine. I would give about an 1/8" for panel deflection when closing the door with the windows down and for thermal expansion/contraction. |
