Anybody have the new Handspring Treo 600 phone/pda/camera/mp3 unit? I want to upgrade my current Nokia 8260 and my Palm Vx, so I thought that this combined unit may be more convenient than carrying multiple gadgets. It is actually smaller than the standard size pda (Palm Vx, for example) and incorporates lots of functionality including web browsing.

The Treo 600 received great reviews on cnet and it looks like a great toy, but I was wondering if anyone here is actually using this phone?

Thanks.

An updated version with better screen resolution and bluetooth may be announced March 1st, though it's hard to say when such might be available from your carrier.

After a few months of shopping, I have decided to get a Treo 600. The second choice was a Sony Eriksson P800 but the Treo wins hands down. Now the sad part...... release of the 600 is scheduled for March 15th here in Canada so I will have to wait. Oh well, another month.
p.s. did you get one yet ?

Hi SuperKal,

Good choice! :29:

I did not get one yet. They are on back order at all retail locations (for AT&T, Cingular, Sprint) that I checked with, as well as for purchases directly from Palm One over the web.

I was told (at AT&T Wireless stores) that they should be available here by the end of February. Hopefully that will be the case. This is definitely the tool/toy to have.

I was talking to a "techie" today at Rogers who has had hands on with the Treo 600. He said that it is an outstanding unit with functionality far beyond all other offered units. He is a specialist working with the Blackberry units and said that he is giving up the Blackberry for one of these personally. Wow, what a reference.
There was a special upgrade program for anybody buying directly from the Handspring site but it has now expired. The Handspring rep did say however that the same promotion was going into effect again in the near future. All you have to do is enter a serial number from one of the old model Treo's when ordering and you will get the upgrade price of $399 (US). Amazing deal, might be worth waiting for. People are selling valid serial numbers on ebay for about $5 so you don't even have to really be a previous user.
Also check out www.howardforums.com for lots of info on all products and providers.
Hope this info helps.

Just found another reason to buy a Treo 600. In addition to phone, pda, camera, mp3, and web/email access features, the Navi/GPS functionality can be added to a Treo 600 for only $250.

While we have the Navi in our MDX, the Treo unit with the Navi/GPS can be used in another car, as well as in rental cars while traveling. It can also be used for hiking, biking, and other activities that may require directions.

Although I am sure it won't be nearly as good as the OEM MDX unit, it should be a decent and relatively cheap alternative with voice and visual direction prompts. :29:

I will, as soon as they get in bed with Verizon and GOOD (www.good.com)

Obviously this rumored updated model has been at least delayed. For further discussion see:
