Stuck between: SS RUB600-4 vs. PPI PCX-480 vs. PG Tan 600.4 vs. Avionixx AXA 600.4
I am stuck in deciding on which of these amps will give me the max. SQ. I am not interested in SPL, just clean, detailed sound.
Please comment on each or on the those you've heard.
He's a list of the cost of each and watts at 4 ohms.
Avionixx AXA 600.4, 4x110 watts, $280 (13 7/8 x 9 7/8 x 2 1/4")
Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4, 4x75 watts, $279.95 (14.25 x 10 x 2.35")
Precision Power, PCX-480, 4x80 watts, $229 (18 x 10 x 2.375" )
Soundstream, RUB600-4, 4x80 watts, $219 (17.25 x 12 x 2.25")
Which of the above would you recommend as the best in SQ (Sound Quality)????
Also, given the space limitations in the Acura MDX, where would you suggest putting these amps????
By looking under the seats, it seems that I have about :
Driver & Passenger seat = 11x11x3.5". So none of the above amps will fit.
2nd Row stationary seat (left 60% of seat) = 2 areas about 10x10x3 to 4" in height as it decreases as you go to the rear of the seat. The 2 areas are separated by a round electrical wire that goes to the fuel tank (i think?).
3rd Row = larger area available under seat, but is not available if you fold the seats down as the volume goes to almost zero.
Rear headrest compartment, = will fit any of the above amps but will have to be velco'd so that you can remove the amps if you need the headrests.
Is there room underneath the headrest compartment, so that you can sink the amp into it?? The amp would them be flush and you will be able to access headrests easily.
Please let me know your thoughts / suggestions.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I can't give you any suggestions on the amps, but I can on the location. I would suggest putting it in the headrest compartment. This will give you easy access in case you need to make any adjustments, etc. The wire runs are a bit longer, but may be easier since you are not going under any carpet. Just my $.02.
From what I have read, amps are amps, mostly. The more expensive ones usually just have more features, warranty, etc. I think any you list will have good sound. More will rely on your speakers and not the amp. Good luck with the amp selection and install. This site answered a lot of my questions and you may be able to find some opinions on the amps you listed. |
