The display and the antenna is in the central dash area. The main electronics and DVD player is located under the front passenger's seat. The Navi's audio interactive system is connected to audio electronics below the display.

I trying to find out what would I need to upgrade my non Navi unit. I saw on ebay someone selling just the LCD and radio and wondered if that would all that is needed for the upgrade, excluding the CD player.

If you do searches on this forum you will find that same question has been asked numerous times.

Just the audio and display are a far cry from the full system. A big problem is the mating of all the electrical connectors. Not the same harnesses are used in a non-navi vehicle. We figure it comes down to whether it is worth the money and effort to upgrade, It is not a plug and play solution. No one has done it, as far we know on this forum.

It is certainly something worth asking before you purchase a non-Navi MDX. Although, there are some excellent after-market options such as the Garmin, and several PC/PDA based systems you can also learn about here. Both are less costly and mind-bending options.

Groo...
I saw that on Ebay as well.. I think apon closer inspection that the buttons on the pic were just the base model, not NAV. Be careful. I know it said it was the navigation unit but I think it was just the compass/trip computer from the looks. If you have a link, post it I would like to see it again.

I don't have the link here at work, but I checked it last night and it was not the Navigation unit. Over all it would probably be a better idea (and cheaper overall) to get it at time of purchase. Thanks though to all that replied.

Just get a 3rd party unit... you could sell your base MDX and trade up for a navi MDX for far less than you will spend trying to re-create it. My wife really wanted it, I could care less when we bought it but it is used DAILY... reminds me of my first PVR (ReplayTV) got it as a toy and it altered my lifestyle...

ash =o)

Maybe there should be a list of the most frequently asked questions on this board, for new members to read first. That will keep the rest of us from getting 'dry throats' having to explain it again and again. and also save some real estate on the server.
Sorry, do not mean to be sarcastic, but a 'guide' like that would be helpful in addition to the regular search process. They could be like quick links with brief explanations. Just a thought.
