What brand of gasoline do you most often buy?
ByeByeChrysler
I avoid independent stations.

Unless travelling Costco or BJs.

Can you add warehouse club gas to the poll?
msu79gt82
Shell 95+% of the time; with the 5% discount of course:1:

Costco, Von's. If on the road, usually a brand name.

I heard years ago (on 20/20) that the gas at independant stations was being tampered with, ie. diluting it. So since
seeing that story I avoid them, the gas is probably Ok, since the same truck that fills the tanks at Shell may also be filling the tanks at
the Ma & Pa gas stations,

but who is watching Ma & Pa?

I would think Haliburton tampers with it more than Ma&Pa....

I think a big factor is going to a gas station that has a good turnover. Of course, if you are in the desert and hit 'Last Chance' sometimes there is no other choice.

I buy the cheapest name brand in my area. That used to be Shell, but since I moved, I found a Mobil station that's the closest station to my house and tends to be at least a few cents cheaper than the competition. I also used to be biased towards Shell because of the rebate credit card, but now have the Chase "Freedom" Mastercard that gives me the same rebate no matter what brand of gas I buy.

Ditto. I also used the Shell gas card but now have the Chase Freedom MC. I like not being tied down to one brand - 5% off all gas, any brand. I like Chevron for the Techron, but try to rotate in other brands.

I found this picture on Chevron's site... interesting.

Oh, almost forgot... I buy Hess around Christmas to get the Hess truck for the nephews, cousins, etc. (and next year my boys - due any day now...).
Captain MDX
Chevron :29:. Acura and Volvo both recommends it.

Yes, my wife is in her last month carrying our two boys. Due dates are a little harder to predict with twins, but my best guess is some time around the middle of February but it could be sooner.

I am getting 3% rebate on gas from Freedom MC, but 5% for Shell with Citi Shell card. How did you get 5% with Freedom card???
BWSmith201
I use Citgo when I'm in Tennessee, but I use Conoco in Colorado.

I usually use 93 or 91 octane, also depending on where I am.

By the way, Congratulations, Tax Atty!!!

I thought I was still getting 5%, but I'm actually only getting 3%. I had forgot that the special promotion of 5% was only for the first three months. Sorry about that.

Don't you like how the 3% is not only on gas, but on everything purchased at a gas station (snacks, Krispy Kreme, hotdogs, boudin, antiacid, etc.). That's different than the Shell card.

Hope everyone has a Happy Mardi Gras, even if you couldn't make it to the Big Easy!
