I am looking at a 04 Touring with RES, anyboy have complaints abuot this option. I am also curious about...can the DVD audio be played over the Bose passenger compartment stereo speaker system...or is the headphones the only audio output available to the DVD player????

We only let our kids use it on long trips. It's been nice for those occasions. Yes, the DVD audio can be played through the stereo system speakers. Just so you know, the wireless signal is beamed to the back so the headphones don't work in the front seats.
OH TWINS
The DVD audio can be played through the main system. The MDX factory RES integrates really well with the main audio system, controls are logical and well thought out. I much prefer it over aftermarket system. The RES and main system can each select a different audio inputs including AM/FM, tape, CD player/changer, DVD, aux for play station, camcorder, etc. The in-dash single disc CD player and the 6-disc CD changer can be played at the same time, one source can go to the RES headphones and the other goes to the main system. We use the RES DVD a lot, even on short trips. Each time you re-start the car, the player resumes where it left off. You can even disable the RES overhead control panel and the wireless remote control so your rear passengers(children) cannot play around with the controls and you select what they watch and hear.
