BENZ has it for a few years already.
They put the chip in their keys.
so you don't even have to pull your key out to start your car.
Its mad nice. |

| Actually, Chevy had it years ago in the Vette! |

| So when is this going to be an option on the X? |

| I guess the question is how much technology is too much and do you really need it. I remember with the Vette, it was a pain in the ass when you were working outside - everytime you just walk by the car it would lock/unlock constantly. Also my Dad & Uncle who both have the Benz with the keyless start both say its just a stupid gimmick. How much effort does it really take to push a button and stick the key in the ignition? I'd much rather see Acura spend some money on putting the open/close buttons right on the key instead of a separate key fob (a la Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, Volvo, etc...). Actually, I was quite surprised to see they are still using basically the same key fob as on my wife's '97 Honda. Time to go upscale! |

I think the walking by problem has been fixed in most versions of the new key fob (at least in Mercedes). Now the systems require you to open the door first. Apparently when you touch the door (and you have the key in your pocket), the door senses the touch and instantly unlocks the door.
I diagree with your assessment overall. This seems like a very simple and very useful feature, as is evidenced by its increasing popularity. I'd very much like to be able to just walk up to my car, get in, push a button to crank, then go. Of course, Acura will probably goof this up when you consider that they haven't been able to fix the immobilizer circuitry yet after four years of trying. |

Just think you just finish buying anything, with a hand full of bags.
You will not have to put down your stuff to pull out your key.
isn't it nice? |

Nice touch, but just one more thing that breaks and needs an expensive repair.
I prefer they spend their energies and resources on engineering. Give me auto-leveling HID's, speed-adaptive cruise control and hybrid technology so I don't need so much gasoline. THESE are something we can use... |

| It is definitely pretty cool, but I would be happy even to see what the RX currently has with the integrated key/fob... |
