Actually I have to put up with that mess everyday - half the population can't pronounce Houston :rolleyes:
Long time locals pronounce it Yew-ston:confused: as opposed to Hew-ston:cool: The locals find some sense of pride in being different from the outsiders.
The ironic part of the whole controversy is that the city is of course named after the great Sam Houston who pronounced his own name House-ton:eek:
I'm proud to be born in Tennessee and say Hew-ston :D While I may not have born in Texas, I did get here as fast as I could:1: |
