my Hoen H11 headlight bulbs and 9006 titanium fogs came today. just installed and took for a ride on dark back roads. i like the difference in light output and color while driving but am less impressed when looking at the X coming towards you. i guess i was looking for more of a xenon look. just wondering what u guys thought of yours when u first put in. i guess i like them. definately was not going to spend $400-500 on HID's. i still need rims.:4:

Whats the wattage on those titanium?

I have xenonmatch(80w) plus in my bimmer, love it!

any pics? :D
ACX
i looked at it and it was either 51 or 71W. i think 71. i have the xenonmatch also. do u think that hoen is the best choice?

ACX,

Please keep us posted on the long range results of you Hoen light bulbs, especially with respect to heat build up in the housings and wiring. Remember...

I just checked their website, its 70w for those titaniums.......

I have those xenonmatch plus for 2 months now no problem with it :D

Here it is......
ACX
would post pics but don't have a digital camera yet.
- also has anyone had problems w/ heat build up w/ the xenonmatch plus? was wondering if i should get the heavy duty connectors.
MDX_d
70w is fine, 80w I would get the connectors.

IMHO, HID's are a better investment than 22" rims.

With a budget of $400-$500. you will be lucky to be able to get just one 22" rim without any tire.:blingblin

rvehock i beg to differ w/ u on that 1!:D nothing makes a sweet SUV/truck/car like a nice set of wheels IMO.
xcalibur who said my budget was 400-500 FOR RIMS. i'm thinking more around $3500 w/ tires.:4:

You don't need to upgrade your connectors or anything for the 80w bulb. It will run fine because our MDXs are newer and can handle that much. If you went with 100w, then I would be concerned.

... as soon as the weather breaks, maybe may or june.

IMO finding good wheels for SUV's is tough. Sure the Escalade looks nice with some dubs on it but as for our MDX I have not seen a good looking wheel I would part my $$$ for.

70w and about 300k whiter but not as bright as 80w.

mdx d i think when 1 is choosing for a wheel for the X they must understand that they don't have an escalade, yukon or navigator. can't go w/ nothing super flashy w/ alot of design. i'm looking for big, wide, deep lip w/ rivets. maybe 5 or 6 spoke. i seen a new range rover w/ the rims i want on it and it looked SWEET. the range is also closer in size to the X than the 3 above. is it just me or does anyone else think the back of the new X kinda resembles the back of a range?

The PIAA extreme white bulb has the same light output as the Heon xenonmatch, but runs alot cooler at 51 watts as oppose to Heon's 70 Watts.
ACX
i don't buy that and i'm not just saying that since i bought hoen. how can a less wattage bulb give off the same light output as a higher wattage bulb? i used piaa superwhites on my accord. good light output and color but i believe my new hoen's definately give off better light.

HIDs use less wattage and produce much more light output.

I'm assuming that you never drove a car with HIDs. They are definitely worth the money. I guess its preference. I'm trying to save up for rims too, but HIDs was one of the first accessories I bought. Absolutely no regrets.

Also, the PIAAs cost more but will probably last much longer.

They don't have a filament requiring a constant higher current draw plus the filament is gradually destroying itself.
The HID uses an excitation voltage which requires a higher current draw but only for a very short time until the gas within the bulb is fully activated. Then the ballast only requires 35W to maintain the potential on the electrodes. Over a very long time deposits inside the bulb will begin to increase to the point where the total light output begins to drop, very gradually. There will also be some small wear of the electrodes over time to the point where the gap widens sufficiently that the bulb will no longer start and the integrity of the gas has been compromised as well. 2000 to 3000 hrs. is typical.

I have the PIAA extreme whites (51 watts) in my low beam and the Sylvania silver stars ( 60 watts ) in the fogs. The PIAA are mucher brighter. Not sure what their secert is. BTW the extreme whites are the next generation of super whites, the extreme white have much better performace.

hopeitsfriday,

hey, where do you get your PIAAs? thanks
hopeitsfriday
I got mine in tweeters, but you can get it online for half the price.

I too replaced my low beams and fog lights with the hoen bulbs (in my 2004 MDX) ... and so far so good. Question, should the high beam bulbs also be replaced?

Just wondering, because with the high beams on you have two different color lights.

Thanks
