Does anyone know if the Bose 6-CD unit can be installed to replace the single CD that came in the '01 non-Touring? I don't want to get into an expensive system upgrade, but keep seeing the Bose units all over eBay for only a couple of hundred dollars...was thinking it would be worth the $$$ to have the changer capability if it didn't require any modifications.
Thanks! |

The unit will fit and ought to work, but the audio harness is NOT 100% the same. I think that the additaional amps in the touring model reguired a slightly different wiring strategy.
If you have a good installer with experience modifying the factor connectors/a source for adapter this should not be a problem.
The real question is: is this worth the trouble? The factory system is under powered, it relies on low ohm speakers to make its weak amps put out acceptable sound levels -- furthere these amps are remote from the head unit -- thus you will need amps BESIDES the head unit.
THis can get expensive FAST -- if you want a high quality unit the aftermarket units are a much better value... |

| In addition, the non-Bose model has a built-in amp for the front speakers; the Bose unit requires a separate amp. |
