DVD Changer and RES question - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am researching the installation of a RES system in my '01 MDX Touring with NAV. I am trying to configure a system that is easily accessible for driver or requires minimal disc changes. A DVD changer may be an attractive option. It looks like DVD changers are offered from BOSS, SONY, & Pyle to name a few. The space under passenger seat is occupied with NAV DVD system...so placement is also an issue.

Anyone have experience installing a DVD changer?
Anyone find a unit (single or changer) that can be installed in center console?
Do any of these systems play DVD+R/RW? (would like to record big library of kid videos to DVD media)

I am currently using a budget solution using an older Sony Hi8 camcorder with 4.5 inch screen that bungies to console along with a tape adapter. Works okay but would prefer a more integrated solution. The advantage to this solution though, is I record the kids VHS tapes & Tivo selections onto Hi8 tape. Tapes hold about 4 hour of programming!

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

70 views and no comments? Does that mean that nobody has installed a DVD changer yet?

I tried to attach a link to my thread showing my video install but I could not get it to work. If you type in “video install” in the search, several threads including mine should pop up and hopefully give you a few more ideas as to what other people have done. I personally have a 10 disc Audiovox DVD changer and a single Pyle dvd player. The single is mounted under the radio in the center console and the changer is mounted in the in-floor accessory compartment. While driving, I find using the changer is far easier than using the single player. When on extended drives, a changer is a must. I would highly recommend getting a dvd changer. Mounting a changer will depend on your skill level or the amount you have budgeted for a professional install. The easiest mounting would be under the driver seat. I don’t think a 10 disc changer would fit, but I believe the 6 disc changer (Sony, Boss?) will fit. If you are so inclined to use a single dvd player, any single DIN dvd player would fit in the center console area. I would also suggest using a Blitzsafe adaptor for your audio instead of the cassette route.
