Since this board is 95% male and after hearing this discussion this morning on the radio, have any of you ever cried at a movie or TV show, and which one was it?

I remember I cried when watching "Born Free". I think I was 5 years old!:D

More recently I cried while watching The Hulk!! I couldn't believe I paid $3 to buy that DVD!!:2:

Depends on what you mean by cry...

For some reason my brain is wired to cause a physical response to some of the lightest internal emotional feelings. My eyes water and it can be difficult to speak as the result of what seems like the simplist thoughts of empathy be it joy or sadness.

To be clear, it is the rare occasion that I make it through a good move that really has my attention without having to wipe a tear from my eye.

It is really embarrassing sometimes...

Don't really cry big tears, but I can be moved to wet eyes and a lump in my throat at times:1: Life can be more joyful if we do not try to hide our emotions; although when negotiating a new MDX - never let them see you sweat.;)

Prior to 9/11 I wouldn't have considered myself very emotional but after seeing the images and reading the stories of human courage and sacrifice, I found myself more emotional and figured that was why. The recent passing of my mother has heightened my sensitivity to bod sad and uplifting images. It's kind of weird I think but something I'm seeing in myself.

I remember getting choked up seeing "Philadelphia" in the movies 10 years ago and more recently in LOTR: RoTK when middle earth bowed to the Hobbits.

Actually never cried during a movie but did get teary eyed during an episode of "Cold Case" where a mother kills her daughter in order to stop a government official who was a pedophile from molesting her.

Then again, I do have 2 girls. . .

I watched "Monster" yesterday. The story of Aileen Wournos. While I don't feel particularly sorry for her execution, when I saw the conditions and emotional trauma that led her to do what she did I could not help feel something, but no real tears.
It was the depravity and hopelessness (so well portrayed on the screen) I felt a big burden had been put on me. Many of the victims were despicable characters but that was part of territory she cruised, no surprise there.
While that was no reason for her to continue to kill, except perhaps in one very graphic and horrible event that had the audience wincing and moaning. That incident alone probably would have got her a self-defense determination.
Definitely not a feel good movie, but you will feel even more grateful for the life you have when it's over. Especially when you open the door to the outside and feel the cool air. I felt like I had been given a reprieve.

Thinking back, it was Born Free for me too, I was probably a tweenie at the time. Quite embarrassing at that age...

Also in "Deliverance" when they smashed that Martin D-35, it was heartbreaking!

Sure -- I was never much into the macho thing. That's part of why I have an X instead of a Hummer:4:

Looks like the big winner in this category is going to be The Passion of The Christ.

Adults getting hurt don't bother me, it is mainly when adults have something happy or ever since I have had kids, something happens to a child.

Only once as an adult -- One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. A powerful book, even better as a movie. I would not care to see it again.

It's the kid thing, once you have a kid or kids and you see something involving children or even say a dad or mom, I put myself in the situation and I get choked up.

I agree with keystone...

Last movie i cried at was when i went to see Monter's Inc. with the wife. Our lil girl was 2 years old at the time and doing a lot of the same things that "Boo" was doing. She and I both swear that they had drawn her on the screen.:crying: :2:
