I have read the other posts about using the Blitzsafe on the X and the issues around having both the Nav and RES.
Will the newer Dual-Mode Blitzsafe connecters solve this issue..
From store.myradiostore.com..
"Dual-Mode Blitzsafe Digital Connect (Single RCA-Input + CD Changer Input)The following Blitzsafe adapters will plug into the port usually found on the rear of your radio normally occupied by your factory CD changer, and give you one set of RCA inputs to plug in your audio device. These Blitzsafe adapters will also allow you to plug in a CD Changer to your factory radio. This will give you the best possible sound quality available for your vehicle's factory sound system. Made in the USA." |

| If you have the RES, the blitz WILL NOT work at all. The port you'd need to plug it into is already used. |

| I've got an 04 w/o RES or Navi (it's a $5,000 option where I live) but I do have the 6CD in dash changer. Does anyone know if there is a connector on the back of this? I want to install a DVD system and the Blitzsafe seems the way to go. |

The description for the Daul mode Blitzsafe is that is connects both the CD changer and XM to the same input on the Headunit..
This is where my confusion is.. |

Both the Touring non-RES an non-Touring model have an input for plugging an external 6-disc changer. The dual mode Blitz I use has a pass through design so that the external CD changer port is retained when you install the Blitzsafe, regardless of whether you choose to use the external Cd changer or not. In this manner I was able to connect an Alpine CD/MP3 changer to my 01 Touring in-dash 6-disc changer, to run 12 discs total, while adding my Sirius tuner (XM same idea, different model adapter). |

| The Touring with RES had the same connection? Correct? The supplied external CD changer just uses that connection. So if I used the dual mode blitzsafe I could connect that CD Changer and XM turner to the radio? |

| Been lurking around but saw your post. I've got a similar (same?) problem. I want to put XM in my new sage pearl X with NAV/RES and thought about the dual mode Blitz. I spoke to Chris at tech support and he said that if I had the factory changer (OEM), it used a different protocol than the Alpine branded changers so that I'm out of luck unless I want to replace my factory changer for an Alpine unit. He said they were considering making an OEM capable adapter but no word on when it would be available (if ever). I wonder what XM would sound like via the aux input in the cargo area (RCA plugs back there)? At least then, you could switch the inputs from the factory controls on the steering wheel and head unit. |

Thanks jimwvumd...
This is the info I needed.. I might just go the FM mod route with an XM Commander until an adapter is available, or I upgrade the CD changer to one that handles MP3s as well.. |
