Mr. Mom
Anyone have blue left from their Levis on the seats? I have the quartz color and I use lexol to clean and condition. It's starting to bug me cause I have to clean the drivers seat all the time.

Can't say I've had that one. . . but there has to be a good story behind this one.:lurk:

No such luck, just getting in and out of the car does it. Mostly on the door side bottom cushion. Maybe I'm applying to much lexol conditioner to the leather.

I've never had good luck with Lexol on any kind of leather. I think it just leaves a greasy mess. My wife ruined a really nice Coach handbag and I used in on a classice Brooks Professional cycling saddle and it took the black dye out of wool cycling shorts. Couldn't sit on anything with those shorts until they were dry cleaned or they would leave black marks. What I would do is try Lexol on blue Levis (maybe even soak a little piece of Levi in some Lexol and see if it turns blue. If it does I'd try some other brand of Leather Cleaner to clean all the Lexol off the quartz seat leather. If you read your owners manual I'm pretty sure it doesn't really recommend any leather "conditioner". I suspect that many people with leather seats in their cars really overdue the application of cleaners like Lexol. By the way, what the heck does "conditioner" mean? It seems to me its just one of the BS advertising terms like "medicated".

I think Fantastic would do well without causing much harm to the leather.

I would avoid Fantasik-- it is pretty much just a detergent/soap solution and the degreasing is not something I would subject leatherr to.

I have OK success with Lexol on some leather, but I do think it has A WHOLE LOT of solvents in it and that is probably SUCKING THE DYE out of your jeans.

I like superfatty leather cleaners, the stuff that they sell in little bottles at the shoe repair store (I think it is same stuff as the Coach lotion just cheaper, about $5 instead $11) BUT it does leave some leather too "slick" so I what I have done is reclean after the greasy stuff. Apply the greasy lotion and wipe as direced. Buff all of it off (old teeshirts work really well for this). Then immeadiately get two small circular cellouse sponges soaked in warm water. Use one lathered up with Saddle Soap and the other to rinse. That takes the "surface slickness" off and doesn't seem to leave anything behind. The bad news is that any cleaner is going to get the backside of the perforated leather too and I suspect that some dye got down there too -- it might take muliple cycles to get it all out....

Well I tried a spot on my jeans and sure enough the dye came off when sprayed with the lexol. Guess I'll find another "conditioner" to try. http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/su...20Conditioners. Probably should just leave it alone untill the leather starts to look older. Thanks for your advice.

...did you find a cleaner/conditioner that you liked for the jeans stains? The discussion seems to have left off with two suggestions (Lexol and Fantastik) with both getting a thumbs down.

I have the Saddle-colored interior (only option with Sandstone ext), and in less than a month, I started noticing the blue discoloration, especially on the side of the driver's seat closest to the door.

I figure I should try to get the stains out sooner than later, but would love to hear tried-and-true suggestions before I screw up the leather!

I used the lexol cleaner which does take off most of the blueing, but I haven't gotten around yet in trying a new product on the seats. That's all I can contribute for now.
