I'm the proud owner of a mid-80's Honda self propelled lawnmower (model HR214SXA). Towards the end of last year it began starting real rough. Then once I finally got it started it wasn't running like it should. Seeing that it's almost 20 years old it probably needs a carb rebuild. I was getting good spark so the plug and coil look to be OK and I checked fuel flow, fuel quality, etc. and it also looked fine.
So my question is does anyone have access to any Honda mower service parts and/or manuals? I know I can get the parts, but at what cost is the question. I'd really like a PDF of the service manual so I'm not buying parts unnecessarily. Since spring is here I need to get her running, as I use it to trim where the tractor can't reach.
Wayne - Do you have any good contacts I can call?
Thanks. |

Check out http://www.planopower.com/ , I have bought parts for my Honda Lawnmower from them. They also have the manuals for most models.

| Just replace the spark plug and the air filter and spray a bunch of WD40 in the carb (or you can get some carb cleaner). |

Thanks, Greg. I talked to Glenn in parts and he was most helpful. Gave me a number of other things to look at as well.
Seems Honda is thinning the line of mowers they sell. Going commercial or very low-end, with nothing in the middle. The mid-line units (cast decks as opposed to plastic with the good engines and cluthes) are going the way of their lawn tractors. So you either pay $ for a commercial model or settle for the cheap stuff. |
