What's the most popular color - Click HERE for Original Thread

In my observations of MDXs on the road by far the most common color is Mahogany. The Mahogany out numbers the others about 5 to 1. Below are my observations:

1 - Mahogany
2 - Mesa Beige
3 - Starlight Silver
4 - Granite Green
5 - Nighthawk Black
6 - Emerald Pearl - ZERO! I have never seen one of these on the road or at the dealer.

This observation is in the Dallas area. What is like in your area?
I've seen about 8 SS and 1 Emerald in the NYC Tri-State Metro area the past 2 months. Nothing else. I'm pretty sure it's not the same SS car either.
The poll conducted on this very forum showed about 30% of the members had silver and 10% or less each had Mahogany and Emerald Green. Around where I live Silver is the most common then Black then Beige then Granite then Mahogany and I have yet to see an Emerald Green one.
I have seen one Emerald green in my area.

By the way: Mahogany Rules, Baby!!

Silver and GG appear to be most popular in SF East Bay by about a 3:1 margin over the others. Then black, mahogany (tied) and finally emerald green. Have yet to see a MesaBeige around here.
Around the Dallas area, I have seen more SS MDXs than any other color. Black and Mesa Beige are a close 2-3. I have yet to see an Emerald Pearl as well.
In the Chicago area, Nighthawk rules. On the road I have seen 4 (not including mine) then GG (2), SS (2), then Mahogany (1). I have only seen the green at the dealer.

The John T. (Muller Acura) said that most popular colors were black and silver with GG following close behind. I had to drive 30 miles just to see a Green.

Remember, Chicago is home of the Tootsie Roll so guess what, Mahogany rules in this town, the rest of you just haven't realized it yet.:D:D

The Dealership called me several times after I put in my order in for the dark emerald green with other color MDX availability. I had not seen the emerald green but from the Acura.com site, I could tell it would be a Winner. :)

Now that I have it, I LOVE IT! :D
Lots of black, silver, GG and Mahogany. Not many DEPs.
We have one. Have seen only one other (in Walnut Creek) in all our travels around SF and the N. Bay. Dig it...
Black is the color I have seen the most in the L.A area.
I thought I would have seen more MDX's than I have in this area. We are our car ( SUV ) here.
I see one gorgeous Silver on a daily basis. And that's it!

Is this when shaving or when driving?:D:D
In Calgary, Nighthawk Pearl (including mine) is the most popular colour. It helps distinguish us from the frozen white landscape we have 6 months of the year! When I picked mine up, 9 MDX's were delivered to the dealer: 8 Nighthawks and 1 Emerald. Have seen only one Mahogany and 3 or 4 SS. Haven't seen any GG's: that's because this gorgeous colour JUST ISN'T AVAILABLE IN CANADA!!! I'm sure we'll see a lot this summer at our golf courses when our southern neighbours take advantage of our low $ with their greenbacks!

Pierre,
Normally that would be true but with the price of gasoline this summer, you probably won't see too many of us except those living in northern Montana!:D:D
Northern Montana? Nothin' there but grizzly bears and neo-nazis! And they're not buying MDX's 'cause they need the cash for semi-automatic weapons and hand grenades....

We have the opposite down here. To lessen the summer heat many choose white instead of the darker colors. Too bad there is no white offered this year. Of course the rumors have it that white will be a 2002 offering. That will help in the mild Texas summer's when its 103F.

Of course I do have a black TL that is gorgeous. I'm glad it has a great air conditioner!

Oh, now I get it! Took me two hours, but I got it :o, funny! And no; occasional grey hairs in the beard, but those mysteriously drop out... :D:D
Here in the SF South Bay/Penninsula it seems GG is the most popular color followed closely by SS and Black.

I have only see one Mahogany and one MB since last November.

Not surprising, the mind is not as quick as we get older. As far as those grey (use silver it sounds more distinquished) hairs go, I am always grateful when I can retain any up on my roof!:D:D

I was surprised that SS was the most popular. Here in Arizona I guess most people don't want black leather in 110 degrees so I don't see a lot of Silver or Black! I see mostly Mesa Beige on the road and my dealer said that was the most popular. I ordered Emerald Green since I only had Beige, Mahogany or Green to choose from if I wanted Saddle leather. Have been waiting for about 10 weeks - supposedly being built this week so I should have it this month (yeah!!!)
I'm still waiting on a silver MDX, but I have a VIN and should take delivery by the end of the week -- after a four-month wait. In the Philly area, I see a few in Mahogany and black, but not much else.
Allison,

I was initially a little bit worried about the black interior in Arizona as well. In the end I did finally talk myself into buying the SS. I now have had my MDX for four days and love it. As you know it has been warm here in the Phoenix area (today was 107). No problem at all with the black interior or the air conditioning. It cools down faster than any other car that I've had before. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours just as much.
Wow! You consider 107 to be "warm"? Yikes!

Yes it really doesn't get hot until it gets to be above 115!
I've seen all 6 colors, but mostly MB, SS, GG.

It's nice to know that the ebony interior is OK in the "warm" weather. In Dallas it can get a little warm too, around 105 or more in the summer. I am on the list for a 2002 model and still thinking about a black exterior also. I decided since it is in a garage at home and at work then the only time it would be sitting in the sun is during lunch or out and about on the weekends. If the A/C can cool the MDX down quickly then that's great. When the 2002 models are actually announced I will see what colors are available for that model year and re-evaluate the black/black choice. I do have a black/black 2000 TL and have no problems with the summer heat. It also cools down quickly. I do seem to have a 'sunburn' and the back of my legs when wearing shorts and sitting on the leather seats in the summer. Don't know why!
Black leather isn't as bad as I thought - I have been driving a borrowed Maxima with black leather seats and it didn't completely fry me or my baby! I too park in a garage at home and work so it doesn't sit in the sun too much. However, since I plan to keep the car awhile, I figured the saddle would be safer. I do really like dark green with tan leather in general (I guess no one else does!!!)

I have been in NY the past bunch of days so I missed the 106/107. Heading back today - can't wait! Hopefully my pool will be warm enough to swim in now!!!

is a beauty with the saddle interior. I had a saddle pinstripe added by the dealer and it is neat.
Here in Augusta, GA I have seen one each of all of the colors but for the mesa beige...I have seen two of these.
The MB is a very bland color..IMHO. I did park beside a mahoganey without pinstripes and was glad I got the green.

I did see two MB at a dealer in Atlanta when I was looking for mine...could have bought either but passed on it because of the color...NOW, I know MB is great to soon...just MHO on the MB.

Hope ALL are enjoying their "Xs."

2001 D E Pearl w saddle
2000 DTS White Diamond w tan
2001 Stingray -White with red interior

I can't wait for it - dealer said it was made yesterday so I should get it in 2 more weeks (I guess it takes a while to get a car to AZ!)
:D
We were told it takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive. They said the initial trip out of Canada is by train, then by truck to wherever. Good Luck!

Allison, you don't see many black MDXs in Scottsdale? I've had a black/saddle MDX since early October. My neighbor directly across the street from me has a black/ebony MDX! Yep, two nighthawk black MDXs directly across the street from each other. (He's the copy-cat, not me!) I believe I have also seen two other black MDXs around Scottsdale as well.

I don't know why my neighbor wanted the ebony interior to go with the black exterior! When wearing shorts, doesn't the black leather tend to burn the thighs during these warm 107-degree spring afternoons... at least until the climate control system has a chance to cool things down? Like you, I wanted to stay with only the saddle interior options when placing my order.
I have a Dark Emerald Green which many mentioned is rare. It was not my original choice in color. Luckily I rushed to a dealer when the first MDX's hit South Florida dealers so I was able to see most of the color choices before making a final choice. They had a D E Green and it was the winner for me - the saddle interior was icing on the cake.

I've seen mostly dark colors here in South Florida - black, mohagany and emerald green. I have seen a few SS too.

By the way, I have a funny story about my MDX. I park in a building garage in downtown Miami. After I showed him the MDX, my boss bought a black MDX which he parks there too. Several people have made comments about the chances of seeing two MDX's in the same garage since they are so rare. Well one day after coming back from lunch with another co-worker, we are walking in the parking garage on the way back in when I see an Emerald Green MDX zoom by me.... I just about hit the floor thinking it was mine being stolen when I realized that it did not have running boards. I'm always excited at spotting an MDX on the street - BUT NOT THAT DAY!!!! Thank God for accessories or I would have looked like some crazy idiot running and screaming after that MDX.
