Anyone with experience using Meguiars Next Generation products?

While we are at it - what about the new Hot Shine?
Captain MDX
Go for NXT! They're way better than Gold Class and as good as Zaino :29:

Although many here will swear by zaino, I unfortunately do not have the patience to go through all the steps. I tried NXT and although a bit skeptical, because it's application was so easy, I was very impressed. I did a coat on my wife's car as a trial run and it turned out great. When my X comes (which is supposed to be in the next couple days) I will be using NXT on the baby!

You'll probably get a better result from Zaino but if you're looking for something relatively inexpensive and easy - GO FOR IT!

So where can it be found locally? Do I have to order it over the internet? Target has none of the products; Walmart has the Hot Shine Spray can for $4.72 but nothing else.

I got my Meguiar's NXT products from discount auto parts. They'll have what you're looking for and for a pretty good price. I think Pep boy's will also carry the product. Let us know how you like it.

I just drove by my dealership (it was already closed) but low and behold there she was. My SBP MDX just delivered. They haven't had the chance to put on the side step and the BSM but it looks like I'll have her tomorrow. :2: I'm a bit excited - can you blame me?

No luck at O'Riellys or AutoZone; I'll try Pep Boys on Monday

msu - if there is a discount auto parts or an advanced auto parts store near you, I would advice you to go there first. That's where I've seen them and I can almost gaurantee they will be there. Just trying to save you a trip. Good luck!

Well at least you'll get there in style! :8:
I can't believe it's this hard to get nxt. Hope you find it - It's some good stuff.

I ordered it direct from Maguiars online store. I had hoped to save a few bucks. By the way if you do a google search on meguiars nxt you will hit a lot of auto forums (particulary the exotics and sports car oriented) that rave about nxt. This org is hooked on zaino.

Until something better comes along that wins the hearts and minds of a large number of members. Or a comparison by some mag.

I am sure there are many auto forums around where few members even know about Zaino.

A mag comparison could be awhile; it is my understanding that NXT is a new product (at least according to Maguiars website). I conceed that zaino has proved itself and why argue with success - however I do not have the time and it appears that NXT is a good product that should be simpler/easier to use.

I use klasse all in one - Great product, it lasts a very long time, and it's easy to use

And not only that, it is more readily available than the big Z.. that is always a plus.

It is sort of like Mobil 1 and Amsoil. The differences are not that great, but a lot more people would be willing to try Amsoil if you were able to pick it off the shelf at your local Target.

MSU...

When you get yours could you please let us know how it works? I went to their web site and watched the video and it looks pretty good. Though it does appear that you might need a few coats to completely remove the swirl marks. I have an Advance Auto Parts pretty close to me and will probably pick some up this weeked if it is not too expensive. I already use thier Gold line anyway.

...though I think you will get a better discount from a local "distributor"...

Probably true..but like most merchandise you can pick stuff up when it goes on sale too. I prefer that to being confined to a distributor.

BTW... what is this 3M SMR stuff anybody here used it before?
msu79gt82
UPS tracking says I'll have my order on Monday (I'd really hoped I'd have it for the weekend). I ordered the Tech Wax, the Spray Wax, and the Tech Protectant.

I think it is a renaming of existing 3M products (but I am not sure). I recall a thread discussing this, but not sure how to Search since two letter words are NOT allowed (e.g. no 3M)

I think it's 3M SwirlMark Remover. See the link below.

I'm considering using 3M products now that I'm amost out of Zaino. The zaino is great but I find it time comsuming.

ok... checking back in... I bought the NXT tech wax this weekend along with Meguiars Scratch X product. Here are my initial thoughts.

I applied both products using a 6" random orbital buffer using a terry cloth bonnet.

First the Scratch X ($7.95)... I wasnt too happy with this product. It has a mild abrasive and does remove surface contaminants but its certainly not better than any $2.00 rubbing compound. I would use the Mothers clay bar over this any day. I applied two coats reversing the direction of the application on both passes. I removed the product by hand with a terry cloth.

PROS: smells good, easy application

CONS: too abrasive for me, doesnt fill as much as it should, pricey

Now the NXT Tech wax ($14.95)... Pretty decent product. Certainly not the all in one that it is billed as though. Again I applied with the 6" buffer with the terry bonnet. As before I ran 2 passes alternating directions. The directions tell you to let the product sit and cure for 15 minutes which makes it easy to cover large portions of your car before removing. It has a unique chemical composition so that when you remove the product it doesnt produce a bunch of white dust like other products. I removed the product by hand with a micro fiber towel. Not a bad shine but certainly not the best I have seen. I tried it on my truck first before moving to the X. The results were not stellar after just 2 coats but acceptable none the less. I think perhaps used in combination with some other product this could be a winner.

PROS: easy application, long cure time, easy to remove, no mess

CONS: not an all in one like advertised

Conclusions...

Pretty decent product for $14.95. Does an acceptable job considering you dont have to waste your whole day applying the product. I applied 2 coats in a little under an hour. My guess is that if used with the right other products this stuff would be killer. But used "as is" you might need 4 to 6 coats to get that "car show" shine. Which that being said still would take you less time then applying a whole Zaino regemine. I do intend on applying this to the X so I will check back in when I do so. I will try to take and post some pictures later today when the sun comes up . Sorry I didnt take any before pics.

Just bumping this thread to see if there are any other updates.

I bit the bullet and ordered some NXT today. I imagine it'll be here midweek.

Even tho I still have ~2 yrs worth of Zaino left in the cupboard, (except for the ZFX which self-destructed) I'm willing to give NXT a try based on the hoopla @ the detailing sites...combined with the fact that I've been topping Z with S100 for better gloss/depth and I'm still pissed off about the way our last Z group purchase was handled. IOW, "I'm available" ;)

Z with an S100 topper is an excellent combo, but if NXT can eliminate half the steps/work and give a reasonably close shine and durability to that combo, I'm all, uh, eyes.

Very interested in your results. I just had a 'Zaino Attack' today. Pictures soon....

The only advice I would give you is if you need to fill swirl marks or scratches dont rely on the NXT alone. I would advise applying some other product first then topping with the NXT.

I plan on throwing a couple of coats on the X tomorrow. I will post some before and after pics.
Mr. Mom
There's going to be some sore backs tomorrow! Finally got a couple coats of Meg, #7, #16 on yesterday. Wish I had some NXT to top it off. I'm going to have a yard sale for all the wax I don't use anymore. :)
