Bridgestone/Firestone announced a recall Thursday of about 490,000 Steeltex tires linked to sport utility vehicle crashes that killed five people.
About 297,000 of the Steeltex LT265/75R16 Load Range D tires are on the road in the United States and 20,000 more internationally, the company said. |

I thought Bridgestone made some decent tires. I would think they would want to divorce themselves of Firestone's reputation and even name as soon as possible.
Maybe they had to agree to keep the Firestone name as part of the merger/takeover. |

| I recently heard a story that Firestone tires were selling pretty good again. I'll see if I can find it. I was going to have to buy new tires for the Lincoln LS I sold to buy my X. I bought tires for it shortly after the Explorer / Firestone mess and I paid $69 a tire. As of January, the SAME tire was $129 a tire. I thought the brand would die too, but I guess not. |

worst enimies car. That is one thing that my dad taught me was that never under any circumstances put Firestones on anything that you were going to ride or drive.
P.S.-He also added that if you want your engine to run never put Quaker State in it. |

DITTO! Plus, the recall affects Expeditions this time, sounds like the second verse to the Firestone song!
Didn't Ford learn anything with the Exploder fiasco?
Apparently not, since they obviously kept their partnership with Firestone in tact. |

| Shortly after the whole Firestone / Explorer incident, Ford cut all ties with Firestone. The recall must be referring to older Expeditions. There are no 2003 or 2004 Ford products that use Firestones. |

This firestone recall is bad, I'll say "2 times and you are fired!" |

Firestone has a long close history with Ford Motor Co - Firestones were the OEM tires on the model T & model A. Also, Harvey Firestone, founder of Firestone was the grandfather of current Ford CEO, William Clay Ford. Something tells me Firestone will get another chance with Ford when all this blows over . . . |
