Recently there was a thread asking who had the shortest
wait to get an MDX. Now I ask, who has waited the longest?

| I first contacted my dealer in August to order an MDX. I gave him a deposit of $1000. I finally picked up my MDX on January 10th. (I did switch colors from Dark Emerald to Granite Green in October, which the dealer attributed to my long wait as he claimed the he had to reorder it with his October allotment - there was also a "glitch" in my delivery schedule and I received an Acura Care Card in December with a different VIN# than the one I received....Hmmmmm????) |

| Ordered Mahogany on 11/17 and settled on MB on 4/4 after Mahogany became unavailable at my dealer due to a myriad of order foul ups/excuses/explanations. The only thing that makes me feel any better about the MB is that everytime I see a Mahogany MDX...it's dirty...and I keep saying...that would have been me. :) I just turned over one month in my Golden Chariot. :) |

You guys really know how to hurt a guy with this one !
My deposit became a hostage 10/26/00, I never changed colors, however I did turn down a few Blk/Tans when they came in and were offered.
My error was choosing to deal with a very small dealership who only received small allocations per month.
The good news is that I now have a VIN and the beast should be in my driveway within a few days.
Thanks to all for helping me to become an informed buyer over all of these months!

I got the same situation as you in choosing a dealer with small allocation of mdx's. Put down deposit on 10/21 and took delivery on 3/31. Waited more than 5 months. I know how frustrating it feels like, but reading the fellow mdxer's posts every day did make me feel better in my looooooooong wait!
Now you got the VIN the end is near. Hang in there and soon the pain will be all gone and believe me you will feel the wait is worth it.

My wait was 20 weeks to the day. For a while, I thought I might have the record, but see that there are a few folks more 'patient' than me.
Keep the faith, I almost lost it. Just before mine came in I started hitting other dealerships again to see if maybe I should buy something else. Took a second look at the RX300, ML320, PF and was going to try the X5, but got the call just in time. Glad I did, cause I know I'm happier with the MDX.

Read about a new Acura SUV in a January 2000 publication.
Talked with a salesman at the Pittsburgh Auto Show in February 2000. Very little information was available at those times but I decided to put the X5 and RX300 on the back burner since I had owned Acura's since 1987. Finally saw a picture a dealer had from the San Diego Auto Show sometime in early summer. Color charts and prices finally trickled in toward late July and made deposit in early August. Naturally my MDX hit the dealership on October 6 while I was in Hawaii. After test driving it 10 days later, I passed on the Silver, Mesa Beige, and Emerald Green in that order until a Granite Green was allotted and finally drove it home on 12/9/00.
Well, that's my litany and by my calculations we spent close to 11 months making the purchase. |

| My Local Northern Virginia dealer estimated August or later. I put my deposit down and I'm sixth in line there for a GG 2002. We'll see if I can actually stomach the wait. |
