Another member of the '01 class checking in. We've had our MDX since June '01. I have never been a frequent poster, but was an avid reader for a couple of years. I did hook up with some fellow S.F. Bay Area MDXers in early 2002 for a wine and apple country tour and dinner that was a lot of fun.
I hadn't look in for quite a while (years) until I needed new tires last month and was looking for recommendations. Thank you to those who recommended the Goodyear Silent Armors, they're great, so far.
I spotted this thread looking for more info on cracked engine mounts. I just had to replace front and rear mounts last week when I took the X in to have the EGR valve replaced. I'm surprised to have the mounts give out after only 55,000.
Otherwise few complaints. My wife loves it and that makes it money well spent.
Nice to see a lot of names from the early days.

Hi guys, I'm still here.
My 2003 MDX is still with me. Only one problem so far, warped rotors! The dealer fixed it, no problem. One year later and the rotors are warped again. No towing, just normal city driving.
Other than that we love the X. We're keeping an eye on the 2007 though. |

Me too. Still around.
01 X has 127k. Runs fantastic. No major issues.
Bunch of tires, brakes twice. Front struts.
Hit two deer, actually two weeks apart. Front bumper and side door...
No complaints.

I moved to Seattle in the summer of 2005. Still have my MDX. It's about to reach 45,000 and it'll need some servicing. I was hoping to find something out here for recommended places to go, besides the dealership. No luck though.
My MDX has developed an interesting quirk the last couple months. The immobilizer won't recognize my key sometimes (happened 3 times now) and I finally figured out that I could pull the fuse to the fuel pump to get things reset and get my car started. Crazy. Don't know why the fuse to the fuel pump would help with the immobilizer. |

| WTF? |
Hey, I guess i'm the 'new old guy' checkin in here. I've lurked for a good while.
Anyways I have an '02 base model that turned 144K today.
My dad drove this as a company car since it had 20k on the clock in early 03 until he sold it to me with 128k on it, this June. He bought an '06 touring nav demo model.
So far:
*Pwr steering pump gave up at ~110K ( A Pilot PS pump is identical at like 50% of the cost of an Acura Unit)
*We got just under 70K out of the first set of Michelins, and replaced the last set right before i bought it. (I feel they still had 15k left but wasn't gonna fight him on this)
*Replaced the struts at all 4 corners at 128K as well ( KYB sells for just under 40% of the cost of an acura part) it rides lbetter than stock now.
* the rear climate control panel is dead (haven't replaced it) . Is anyone parting out an MDX yet by chance?
*Still on the original transmission (knock on wood) the oil jet mod was done at ~60K.
I'll field any questions on the durability with regards to the 120K and beyond that any of you have. |

Funny, I was just looking at the '07 brocure I just got in and thinking how much I liked my MDX way back when (been driving a TL for a while now). I don't miss the gas mileage, but I do miss the space.
Glad to see folks still checking in. |

I hear you on the gas mileage; I average 19 (89 octane) with a lot of highwaymiles in the mix.
I had a 92 legend once upon a time; LOVED that car. it only got 24 on the highway though. It needed a 5th gear in that auto tranny.
I'll have my eyes peeled for a newer 6 spd TL once they age into a lower price range.
One thing I've notices; what is it about ATL that draws a TON of MDX's on the road??? |

Hey stranger :1: Long time no see. I've seen two new '07s on the road; not sure what we'll do next. We've been driving an MDX since early '01 and are about to reach the stage where we really won't need a vehicle that seats seven. |

| Hey msu - haven't seen you post in a while! Glad you are also still reading the forum. I am still driving the '01 - but may end up selling it if I am forced to take a company car. I'll find out by the end of the year. |

I just found this thread. Haven't been looking over the forums in quite a while. I have 101000 miles on my 03 and haven't replaced anything outside of 4 windsheilds and another set of Cross Terrains.
Still on my orig brakes. Do mostly hwy driving. Still runs like a young philly even with the 89 octane I've used over most of its lifetime. Been a great hauler with the well designed spacious interior (that is for a mid size SUV). No complaints on ride, handling, wear and tear, longevity of parts, and get 21 mpg on commute but in mid 20s on long hauls. Guess I'll change out those brakes later this spring. Don't want to rush into things. No long term plans on replacing it. Still a competent compfy ride. Good to read about you old timers out there. Hope someones left to read this and you git alongs are gittin along. |

| And Microman's color SandStone is rare! Do plan to upgrade in the next couple of years? :1: |
|
|
| microman |
Upgrade ???? No comprende... Wha for ? She runs just like a newbie, looks like a newbie, the leather makes it smell good inside and have not had any bad spills so the upholstery is A-OK and no cracks in the leather. If I were to upgrade it would be for a hybrid SUV and there is nothing out there that fits the bill. Soooooo - I'm happy as if I had good sense with the old bird and want to see just how long this bird will keep me happy.
Yeh, the color - I originally ordered the blue but this Sandstone came in and I needed a new car badly at the time. It sure doesn't show the dust here in the Sacramento Valley and the dealer sealant keeps up the gloss real well and helps with gettin rid of the buggies. The blue would have looked better for sure, but would have spent tons of time gettin rid of the dust and dirt too. Better spend my time doing fun things. |

ByeBye,
I've still got my 02 and she's been very reliable. Just a few tires here and there but generally, a very good long term purchase.
Nice to hear from you again. |
