Looking for ideas on vacations, and have been tossing around a 5 night western carribean cruse from royal carribean, or possible cancun. Any other ideas or comments??

We're taking a Western Carribean cruise on the Carribean Princess ship this April. It is a 7 day cruise that leaves from Ft. Lauderdale and stops at Princess Cays (private island), Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

I have never been on a cruise before, and this promises to be a fun trip.

mgmdx,

Prepare to be hooked on cruising. Once you do it, you'll want to go again and again...

Lots of good cruise info here ->> http://www.cruisecritic.com/

If you want great food, relaxation, SCUBA, SNorkeling, and your butt waited on hand and foot. go to Grand Lido Braco. In Jamaica. We have been there twice and planning to go again. Been to alot of other carribean islands and this place is awesome. Go to www.superclubs.com and you will see it. I have a map of the resort i saved to pick out the best rooms, and I wrote down some of the room numbers that have the best Ocean views and location. It is group of rooms only 2 story high that look like condos.

the FOOD was to die for. Top shelf booze no cheap stuff. All Inclusive. Bus trip only 45 -50 min from airport. DO not go off property, you do not have to. EVERTHING there. Golf too. But too hot for golf, did that twice but at 0600 tee off.

We are planning a 7 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise with Royal Caribbean. It leaves from Miami on June 13th. My wife hasn't booked it yet because our agent keeps saying, "they aren't dealing yet". This will be our first cruise and my wife is all excited while I’m just warming up to it. She is planning on booking a balcony suite which will be nice.

It depends on many things..

such as $$ time, and how far you are welling to go..

For place near US that lets you totaly relax, try Hawaii. Go there, enjoy the beach, don't have to go to any tour sites. Just enjoy the beach.

If you got a few more days.. try Phuket Island of Thailand. It's great but a bit of flying... a bit hot and wet compare to hawaii, but more exotic food, sighting etc..

I've always want to go Tahiti since I have not been there.. I can't tell you how it is..

If you want advantrue, I'd say go check out China. Just make sure don't buy anything without a fight.. a coke for them is 4 RMP for us the outsiders are at least 5 or 10 RMP.. but the view is great, food is great, fake pradas are great too! :2:

That's all I can think of now..

right now we are scheduled (End of the summer) to go on a western caribbean cruise that stops in key west, cozumel, and belize. I'm not sure that's what we want to do. It looks like this is a popular area to visit.

nwaring - btw - you can book now through the cruise company, and then when the deals are out there, you can move to a travel agency. by doing this, you lock in the room you want.

We went to Tahiti (Moorea island) on our honeymoon almost 8 years ago. It was awesome.

We stayed at a small resort that had individual thatched-roof huts spread out throughout the grounds. Some huts were in a garden setting, others on the platforms over the water. Ours was right on the ocean shore, with back patio steps going directly into the water.

The island is sparsely populated. The circumference drive is only about 40 miles. Public transportation is non-existent, but most local restaurants will send a car to pick you up from the resort. Other than that, there isn't any nightlife outside of the resorts.

As far as activities, several scuba and snorkeling opportunities exist, as well as 4X4 tours into the interior island jungle, where you can hike to and then swim under remote waterfalls. You can also rent jetskis, kayaks, bikes, etc.

Great place, I highly recommend it for a relaxing vacation.

Interior of the hut similar to the one we stayed in.

Prices on Tahiti have gotten better in the past few years. Check out the vacation packages from Air Tahiti Nui here:

http://www.airtahitinui-usa.com/

Click on "Vacation Specials" on the left side of the page. Packages include RT airfare from LAX and are quite reasonable.

YA!!! Hawaii rules!!! My wife and I spent two weeks there on our honeymoon and I still dream of it when I have trouble sleeping. We went to Maui and Kaui!!!

Unreal. I couldnt do enough suba diving or horse back riding!!!
Good luck.

We have done caribbean cruising, like Royal Caribbean line a whole lot. We have Jamaica four times, we think it is the best of the caribbean. Try Half Moon outside Montego Bay as an alternative. We think Cancun is overrun. If you want quiet, try Cozumel.
These are suggestions that we have good for not too much money.

Kauai, HI is the best place to relax and pamper yourself.

Cruise is also good. If possible, get a balcony.

Kauai is our favorite. :D We are going there again this summer. Golf, beach and relaxation with a much smaller crowd than the other islands.
