I am a bit unhappy with the audion quality of my new MDX. I find it hard to believe a $40,000 car has an audio system that is this bad. I see the posts about replacing the door speakers and that looks like step one. What about the tweeters in the front windows and please tell me there is a way to put a decent sub in the back. I am also experiencing some vibration rattle in the rear quarter near the sub. Is this common? The dealer has said they will try to find the problem as they want me to be a satisfied customer. I would appreciate any advice on upgrading my tunes.

Replacing the crappy door bose speakers with Infinitys is a start. The sound improvement is decent, but a great value for around $110-120.

The rattle you hear is from the POS sub. If you are want decent bass, you'll have to add a quality amp and sub. I had a shop install my MTX amp in the stock sub location and I have two 10" Infinity Kappa subs in a custom enclosure behind in the cargo area. The difference is day and night. I didn't want to change the head unit because I wanted the factory look, and I didn't want to pay additional $$$$ to install a 4 channel amp.

gocanes13,
Welcome aboard!!

I went with a piece meal approach. I replaced the speakers then the sub then added an amp to the equation. This happened over 5 or 6 months. I am now happy with the sound. I would definitely recommend an amp to drive the main speakers, too in addition to amping the sub. It makes a world of difference.

There are lots and lots and lots of threads on upgrading the audio. Do a search and see what you find.

Good luck!
