Nicely Under "MSRP" - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well boys and girls even though I don't consider this a major "Brake The Dealers" Conquest: I still consider it a Major step in the right direction:
I am holding and looking at my new car [signed] Purchase Order Contract for 2001 MDX-SS-Tour-Nav-for $1050.00 below MSRP! I am willing to fax this contract to the moderator for authenticity [if requested]: Promised Deliv. Date [in the contract] on or before of July 6, 2001: Purchased from an Auto Buying Group, in the New York Area: Groups that do major fleet purchases for companies like johnson & johnson, squibb, Mary Kay, The Gap, etc. I checked this company out 9 ways to sunday, and everything seems to be in order: They have a stable of 60-80 dealers who they give orders to thru-out the country and buy alot of vehicle's, So they are accomodated for even the so called "Hot" vehicle's: Guarantee's me that as long as I,m willing to wait the 6-8 weeks, [and he did say maybe sooner] The Truck will be here!
I,m so tired of dealing with dealers, who want to hold you up with a gun for every little option: and then sell your car to next guy willing to pay Five dollar's more: I added Wood steering wheel $495.00 installed: Gettin other options from Tim: Vehicle's prepped by authorized acura dealer, shipped to either home or buying group office: Told me to expect the Vin in about 5-6 weeks: Hopefully all goes Well: I'll keep ya posted:
Sounds like a great deal! Did they require a hefty non-refundable deposit? If so, can you refuse the end product if not delivered as ordered and get a refund? Any glitches in the fine print? Sounds like it might be a great deal for those "still waiting" outside of the NY area. You could order and have it transported and still fall under MSRP.
And while I'm sure you researched this, have you confirmed that it will be a U.S. vehicle, and not one converted from the Canadian market?
$500.00 deposit- Re-fundable if not delivered within 30 days of delivery date and delay is not attributable to consumer:
Never asked about a converted canadian vehicle? Is that illegal? what would they have to do? change the cat converter and oxygen sensors and other emmision control devices? Who would they have do that? I thought All MDX's come from and are assembled in Cananda now anyway:Did you ever hear of dealers or anyone selling that type of vehicle? But you can be sure I'll ask and I'll track the vin history with American Honda Motor's once i get it! Thanks for the tip:

It's probably not a Canadian market vehicle, but I figured I should at least mention it. Here in the Washington state, some auto brokers and even an Acura dealer or two have brought TL's, MDX's, and Odysseys over the border in the past.

The major issue with them is that they are not supported by an Acura U.S. warranty, so they offer a third-party warranty instead. Honda/Acura discourages U.S. residents from buying a vehicle cheaper in Canada through not honoring the Canadian warranty in the U.S.
It has NAV, so it can't be a Canadian model - which isn't offered with Nav. Congratulations on getting a good deal... this should become more common as the economy slips. Apparently domestic auto sales are down more than 10% compared to last year.

Congratulations gjm4855!!
I knew it would get better and the tide would eventually turn in favor of THE CONSUMER!
When gjm actually takes delivery, I will be among the first to offer congrats on breaking the market. But this is an unproven sales channel to date for the MDX so let's wish him success. This could just be the silver bullet to slay the slimey Acura Dealers that a lot of us have complained about. We finally may have a way to just say no!

gjm4855,

How can I get in contact with this Auto Buying Group? I live in Fairfield County, CT so this group might be right up my alley. Thanks.
Good job gjm. You get a A for effort in getting what looks like a up and up deal. I am proud to be a forum member with you. I take pride in knowing you said NO to msrp and above AND unlike some members here who are like lemmings going off a cliff do not believe dealer's stories of how they can't sell for less. You realize the MDX is just a vehicle, albeit a very good one, but in 2-3 years over half the members here will be getting pumped about something else and ready to dump the MDX.

Frank

Good work gjm4855 for getting < MSRP. I know we have a "group buy" for PIAA/Razo bulbs. Why can't the callobaration be done on a group buy for an actual MDX?

Remery, I thought those would be added in the 2002 models. Darn.
Nice job GJM. It is great to hear that things are changing but we all knew they would, it was just a matter of when. I hope Dancall doesn't see your post. He is not going to be happy about this.
I checked out United Buying Group today and was told that they are sold out for this model year. I was also told to check back in July when they might know the prices for the 2002 models. He did confirm that they prices were under MSRP though. So I guess I'll have to drop a deposit down somewhere else and then check with this group in July and see if we can do business. Oh well.
But please what is the number for this Buying group??

Tell em Gary from Staten Island, reccomemnded you
did you meet with these guys face-to-face in NYC, or did you handle everything over the phone?

I'm sick of the luxury SUV dealers I've met thus far in the tri-state area (and I haven't even been looking at them very long), and would like to find a way to short-circuit the stranglehold they have on the consumer. But being a Brooklyn native, I'm very wary of scammers. I'd feel safer with an office I could see and a person I could scrutinize.
Go to 42-10 27th street, Long Island city, N.Y. 11101
few blocks from Northern Blvd. 718-729-5900
I'll give them a shot next week - first baby's on the way, so I'm out to cut my costs as much as possible (although if that we're true, we'd be at the Hyundai dealership).
