| Thanks to the advice I picked up here, I upgraded the horrible door speakers with Infiniti's. big improvement and it only took about 30 minutes. while I was at it, I tried to do something about the rattling sub. Come to find out, the factory puts no deadening material in the cavity of the fender. The sub just rattles everything in there. I stuffed the cavity with dampening material and it sounds much better with no rattle. I still think I will replace the sub once I get some good info on which sub to use and if an amplifier will be required. |

At least it 'rattled' for you. Many of us felt it did nothing at all.:) |

What type of deadening material did you install in that panel? |

I take it that you all had the upgraded the Bose stereo since you have a sub.
Is it worth upgrading the door speakers if you just have the stock stereo....or is it not worth the effort given the stereo itself. I am really wishing I went for the better stereo.
Thanks |

Ceenit,
Don't feel too bad. A lot of us think we were taken on the B(l)ose stereo. Many members have upgraded the base stereo with Infinity speakers. Makes a nice upgrade for only $120 or so. I thought the base had a sub too??

Thanks...and yes, I just checked on Acura's web site, the base model comes with "Acura Music System with AM/FM stereo cassette, CD player and 7 speakers with 10" subwoofer"...it's the quietest sub I've ever heard....I'll give the Infinities a try for starters...seems like a pretty large consensus on the other threads for this.
Do you know the Infinity model # by chance...I'll do some more digging on prior threads. I found several references to the Infinities, but I didn't see a model #.
Thanks again...didn't intend to hijack the thread |

I just upgraded my speakers to the Infinity 6002is after one of my Bose blew out. I was meaning to anyway but the blowout just accelerated the timetable.
I am moderately pleased with the upgrade. The stereo sounds noticeably better. I really want to upgrade the sub and add an amp but it looks like a daunting task if I were to do it myself. |

doggiedog,
Installing the sub and amp isn't too bad really and it's worth it. I had never done anything like that before I did mine and I think I did pretty good job. I did a lot of upfront research to know what I had to do before hand. There is a lot of good information on this site. |

| I read up on them but I would need to get some power tools to cut the ring for the sub. Then somehow figure out how to rewire the amp, add low-pass filters, shave the connectors, etc. Ughh. I wish it were as simple as pull out and replace like the 6002is. Unfortunately, I am not well versed in car audio. I may have to resort to going to a store but not willing to shell out $400-500 right now. |

According to Crutchfield's web site, the Infinity 6002i's will not fit in the 2003 MDX. Is that true, or do you have to do something special to mount them?
Thanks. |

I have 4 Infinity 6002i's installed in my 2003 MDX. They fit without anything special to mount. Many of us have followed markable's thread for step-by-step instructions with pictures with great success. |

| Like many aftermarket companies, Crutchfield seems to not keep up well with the MDX. I suppose it has to do with supply and demand. |
