How often do you/someone else change your oil?
Emerald01
Wanted to put all three polls and make a survey but I couldn't make it work. Please see other oil polls. I thought it would be an interesting poll. Hope you all agree...

Oil Poll III: Who does the oil change?

I currently change my oil every 3000 with an OEM filter. But I'm considering going to longer intervals with pure synthetic. I thought changing the oil more frequently in the begining would be beneficial during the breaking-in of the engine.

I had to vote "none of the above," as I (and many others) follow the Severe Service schedule, which calls for 3750-mile change intervals.

And, Emerald01, when we bought my wife's '99 Accord V6, the dealer said "DO NOT change the oil before 3750 miles."

I started out with 3000 miles or 3 months with conventional oil, now I'm going out to 5000 miles with synthetic mix oils. I think the 3000 mile 3 months was a little to obsessive, and the oil was coming out clean at this point. Now with 5000 mile intervals the oil is looking much more dirty. Always been using Acura Filters thru Tim at Hondacuraworld, may consider the better Fram filters soon. Pure synthetic oil is a little to expensive for my 5000 mile oil changes.

I think the MDX had the same thing. Or was it the VTM fluid that needed to be changed ealier at 7500?

What ever it was I followed the break-in procedure, then I went to my 3000 interval.

I should have added the 3750 as an option but I made the poll without the manual in front of me. Personally, I think 3750 would be to hard to remember when every other oil change would occur. Although, I do use yahoo cars to keep track of my oil changes and log my service history.

I vited 5000, but that not exactly right. I follow the Acura Recommended schedule of 3750 or ~4000 (for severe driving conditions Acura recommends half the 7500 normal).

From here on, I'd say, if you change every 3750 miles, vote for 'None of the Above'.

5000 miles and I do it myself.
Ceenit
Typically 4k, but could stretch to 5k if it is mostly highway miles. I enjoy doing it myself unless I'm feeling lazy...but at @24.95 for the dealership to do it, that's not a bad deal. I paid twice that at Volvo and BMW...which is probably why I started enjoing doing most of them myself.

I change my own between 5K -7K depending on driving conditions. I use Red line 5w20 Synthetic oil and Mobil 1 oil filters ! ;)
