"Super" blenders - Click HERE for Original Thread

I love "bar style" frozen drinks :7:, "Jamba Juice" style smoothies, and "Starbucks style" frozen coffee drinks.

I've tried various brands of "consumer grade" (and even some "bar style" but made for homes) blenders and even played around with pre-freezing and other hassles.

It is futile. :banghead: Normal blenders just don't have POWER.

I must get an actual "super blender".

The best price I've seen is on ebay for 'demo/open box' K-Tec/BlendTec models for $239 + $15 shipping.

Anybody seen a better deal?

Anybody got one of these? These are the same beasts that Jamba, Dunkin Donuts & Starbucks rely on, so I'm sure I won't be sorry (though I might need earplugs)...

3HP baby!!!

The "super" blenders like this spin at 28-30 THOUSAND RPM, even the best from Oster, KitchenAid,Waring, Bosch, Krups, Salton(which owns Cuisinart) are at MOST HALF that ...

We have a Waring:D, Kitchen Classics series, and we think it is a POS. Way to noisy. But then I'm not sure what a good one sounds or works like.

Got the same one. Have the stainless container in addition, great for those summer desserts!

Not the speed or force of the Joe's Smoothie..but at 1/3 the price or less it does the job for what I need. Only 2 speed but never want for more.

I've got the Vita-Mix with 2.5 HP :18:, but that K-Tec looks even better!

renov8r, that looks like a good price.

My wife and I make about four smoothies a day with a 14 speed Hamilton Beach “Ice Breaker” blender.
It works great for us. Even does well with the occasional margarita.

Here is a nice smoothie recipe for you workout types.

First blend the following:

1/3 to ½ banana
¼ cup of cashews (wal-mart produce section, plastic container)
¼ cup wheat germ
½ cup milk or water or juice or 1 cup of yogurt
1 scoop of your favorite protein powder (I prefer Designer)
A handful of strawberries or some chocolate syrup for flavor

Then blend in some ice and enjoy!

Healthy stuff, but as an old 'Designer' user, I now use this, it is lighter, richer in protein & amino acids, tastes just as good and is much cheaper. Personal choice, of course.
Supposedly whey protein metabolizes with greater ease than soy.
