Headrest monitors - Click HERE for Original Thread

I've got an 04 MDX. I want to put headrest monitors in the back of the front headrests and one in the back of the middle headrest of the second row so if the kids are in the third row they can watch.

Has anybody been able to put a monitor into the stock second row headrest? (I've actually got two spare headrests so I don't mind experimenting ie cutting them open and if they don't fit, too bad).

Also, what size monitor fits best in the front row headrest?

I'm considering doing either the Vizualogic, Myron&Davis, or Savv option (they sell you an OEM headrest with the monitor already built in, or buying two new headrests (around $95) and cutting into those.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Do a search, quite a few members have done what you're asking. As for the size, I've got 7" monitors in mine.

pcgold,
LL is right. There is a lot of stuff on this site about adding monitors. I am hoping to add some starvision tm-585s to my front headrests and enhance the factory RES. I know these will fit because cevansmdx installed them here. You might use these as a guide for width/height on the factory headrests. Good luck with your project.

Many of us have also upgraded the mid-row headrests with the full-sized front-row headrests. They look much nicer and will eliminate your concern for fitting a display into the back of the smaller center row headrests. If you do upgrade, I suggest you replace all 3 mid-row headrests instead of just the middle one, in order to maintain aesthestical integrity. Get a quote from Tim at Hondacuraworld.

Very nice. What brand/model of headrest monitors are those? Thanks.

I found this awhile back. This website offers Custom headrest with the monitors installed already. They go all the way to 8 inch versions so this might be the easiest way yet to do this upgrade.

Does the Myron & Davis headrest comes with the wires hidden when installed? I've seen the Vizualogic and I believe the wires are hidden.

How does the 8" look on the MDX headrest?

I'm looking at the same options for my 2003. I've purchased Sam's unit and now I'm looking for monitors.

The Myron and Davis do not have the wires in the headrest tube. I've tried calling www.audionmore on three different occasions and I get no answer. Their prices are great but I've crossed them off the list and now I'm focusing on the Vizuallogic or the Savv.

I stopped by my local Good Guys today and they have the Savvs in stock. They look very nice, have the wire in the post and have a headphone jack (and volume control, and IR) on the monitor- all nice features, not sure if my 4 year is going to wear the wireless phones so it's good to have an option. The Savv's have only one video input which is fine for me since I have Sam's unit. Price at the Good Guys dealer is $650. with the headrest. www.savinglots.com has them for $440. each with the headrest. Savv's also comes with security covers.

I've looked at the Vizuallogic and although they look nice they are overkill for me. Two video inputs with a separate interface box makes the wiring more complex and the security covers are another $50. No headphone jacks either.

I'm leaning towards the Savvs at this point. I hope to have all the details worked out in the next couple of weeks and have the install done in early May. I hope this helps. Let me know what you decide.

I went with the 7" Myron and Davis. I kinda went the long route in getting these monitor since I got it on Ebay. It was for an Escalade but I was only interested in the monitor only. I thought I may try to put those in the factory headrest. They were not even close in fitting. I ended up ordering two "blank" headread for the MDX from Myron and Davis along with security covers. I basically ended up spending about $750 for the two headrest.

I started the installed last weekend but stopped after a few hours because I don't really like the way the Myron & Davis headrest looks with the rest of the seat. It's a little big compared to the factory one. I am still trying to find the best way to feed the wires. I like to be able to swap the headrest quickly.

BTW. The NAV conversion could not be any simplier. Granted I have don't plan to use the TV tuner so I did not even bother installing the antennas. I would say that the hardest part was taking out the factory HU to run the blitzsafe adapter.
