I've noticed that the wipers rain sensor is useless during snow. Wipers just do not work in AUTO mode when snowing. It works fine when raining... Have you noticed this? Or maybe it just a problem with my car?
Thanks!

I believe the auto rain sensor system in the MDX is a optical system. The sensor projects a infrared light into the windshield. If the glass is dry, most of this light is reflected back into the sensor by the front of the windshield. If water droplets are on the glass, they reflect the light in different directions -- the wetter the glass, the less light makes it back into the sensor. Since snow will not reflect light as efficiently as water, therefore, the system will not work as well in the snow.

Thanks X-men for explanation. That's probably why it is called RAIN sensor and not SNOW sensor :D

Just got 4 inches in the NYC area by me the past 2 days and the wipers were a mixed bag. Sometimes it worked in AUTO, sometimes not. No big deal for me...........it did work GREAT in the rain so far............
